Weird braking issue
I have this problem in my car-
After I've been cruising along at 60+ mph for 5 minutes plus without braking, if I hit the brakes, the pedal travels about an inch further before braking than normal. If I left off the pedal and press down again immediately afterward, pedal travel is normal.
Any ideas? I really don't like this and I've panicked a few times when my pads didn't bite when I thought they would. Not good in a pretty fast car :(

I'm considering that--- how would I test it? Would it really go bad at 80K miles?
Also, could this be caused by a vacuum leak? My motor idles rather high-- at 1K RPMs. Not sure if that's just because of 750cc injectors or a leak somewhere else...

I would start with a fluid check. Making sure the level is correct and that that fluid hasn't absorbed water. (looks dark) If there is a problem with either one then I would drain and flush the braking system. Also check your brake pads. If they are very thin then you may experience this because of the piston returing to the caliper and it would require the extra pedal travel. Ensure the rear caliper is properly adjusted, use the E-brake or adjust with the screw. Once everything is checked and properly bled then see if you still have the symptoms. If so then I would point to the master cylinder.
