When spinning the sensor by hand in free air, the speedo works?

I fixed the problem turns out the speed sensor gear was the wrong one that came with the tranny. I used my old 5 speed gear sensor and boom works thanks for the help joe.

wrong speedo gear? less teeth? I have no experience with the miata speedo gears however on my old vehicle you had to spin it a bit to align it when you swap in a more or less teeth gear. When you swapped in the 6 speed did you do any other work to the rear end? I'd double check my speed with gps just to confirm its reading somewhat correct.
