Dumb question time, because i'm really grasping at straws with my clutch issue.

Here goes:

The flywheels are very different. 1.8 has those crazy stupid standoffs for the clutch bolts. 1.6 doesn't. Is the total depth still the same/made up somehow? Did i need to swap anything other than just the pressure plate/disc and flywheel to use 1.6 stuff on my NB1 6spd car?

I did notice that the factory clutch bolts went all the way through the flywheel and poked out the other side, but they aren't contacting anything.

So is the swap really as simple as i did it? I can use the same clutch fork and slave cylinder and all that?

Guys. Guys pls.

I'm going to start most of the removal tonight, would like to know if i have to change anything else so i have the weekend to source parts if i need to. I'm daily driving this thing because the Cherokee is wrecked.

Nobody is replying because all of us had both of our hands on our foreheads at this question even being asked.

The stack height to the throwout bearing is the same for 1.6L and 1.8L. Yes, you can put a 1.6L clutch/fly on a 6-speed with no extra parts or tweaks.

That's cool and all, but i've spent hours since Sunday trying to figure out why this **** DOESN'T work. Be assured i spent quite a few hours researching before i asked the question that i said right in the beginning was dumb.

I'm grasping at straws here.

I appreciate the confirmation. That's one thing i can cross off the list.

<p>Did you take pictures of the install? Its inconsistent right? Have you been under the car while trying to release the clutch and made the problem happen? I don't think you will figure this out until the trans is out.</p>

Trans coming out tonite/tomorrow morning, so yes i agree. I just wanted to prepare myself if i needed to buy any parts that the internet didn't tell me about.

Seems the internet didn't fail me, so i appreciate the internet and will carry on removing my transmission.

<p>Other than a new clutch? Not sure. Have your old one ready to go on.</p><p>And get your flywheel surfaced this time. Or replace the friction ring, however it works.</p>

Yep getting it surfaced. Going to see about renting a car in the morning so i can actually get it to a place to be machined.
