This may be the most amusing DD tire thread I have ever read.

Got shitty Ziex 912s for my shitty stock 14 rims on my shitty stock 95. 271 shipped right now from discounttiredirect. Not bad for new tires. Will install on friends shitty tire machine without balancing and see how they do on road trip to Moab. Since I have no stereo, I imagine I will be able to say lots of inane things nobody cares about about regarding how quiet or not they are. And how they handle at regular speed on freeways.

Do not install those Falkens without balancing, unless you really want to feel what 3oz out of balance feels like on a long road trip at freeway speed.

The ZE912 has a treadwear rating for like 40k, I think I got maybe 20k out of them over the course of 3 years. My friend with a Subaru Forester got about the same amount of mileage.

I wish we could get Conti DWS in 15". :(

I wish I could get a lot of tires in 14'.

These seem like the best compromise as my 'DD except in winter cheapo on stock rims'. The crappy snow performance and wear indicates to me that these are probably a lot more focused toward not sucking on dry pavement than your average all-season. I figured out that basically spending serious coin on a 14 tire makes no sense unless you are really going for AutoX competition. Which makes no sense anyway.

Hopefully I get 3-4 years out of these. Since I have two basically DD vehicles I can often keep the Mata down to 6-7K miles a year. And I tend to be easy on tires because I only do donuts in bad weather.

In short for those that are searching this topic: Get 15s, then get a real tire. 14s are for crappy all seasons or if you really want to be the coolest kid in the parking lot, spend 500 bucks on Star Specs.

I'd rather drop $1000+ on 6ULs and Rivals for my $2200 car than $500 on 14' Star Specs.

psh, no need to buy 14's for cruising parking lots anymore, as long as you can find 15x6 wheels in the stock offset (+/-1/4") you can run 15's.
