The accused is a blond-haired white woman, probably mid 40s, mother of two (formerly 3.)

She's pretty well fucked.

The last time, I was #4, and the prosecutor kicked me out during the peremptory challenge phase. I genuinely have no idea why, aside from the fact that the accused (inappropriate sexual contact with a minor) had dark skin and a name that ends in Z. Her loss for not knowing the difference between Cubans and Mexicans, and recognizing that the two groups, as a matter of broad generalization, would just as soon kill one another as breathe. I'd probably have voted to hang him (yes, yes, I know that sentencing is the judge's job. It's a figure of speech.)

Aside from any false ideas about doing his/her civic duty, I don't know why anyone would show up to jury duty. It's not like the summons are sent via registered mail and we all know how often regular mail gets lost...

Honestly, aside from the fact that since I'm self-employed I don't get paid, jury service is actually kind of interesting. I don't understand the massively negative bias that seems to surround it. I mean, you get to ban people from real life. How cool is that?

ie. hipster.

I was thinking that they're a much sounder engineering implementation of the port that lets you plug into the matrix. Any society that advanced would use a simple point-contact multiplexed interface, rather than some big, kludgey thing that you have to insert several inches into a space already occupied by the spinal column.

I get to use one of my vacation days tomorrow! I'm going to wake up early tomorrow..... and go turn myself in for my goddamn warrant! Sit in a holding cell for part of the day, then bond myself out for ******* $300. By the time this is all over, I will have to pay probably between $600-$800 because my tag sticker either fell off or was stolen, and I missed a court date. It's a racket.

I know, I just think it's a bit ridiculous. I'm only human, we all make mistakes. With a busy life, sometimes you just forget things, especially considering it was for something as simple as a tag sticker. It just didn't cross my mind. Now it's going to cost me that much. And most places for minor infractions like this, the FTA can be waved and you can be rescheduled a court date one time only, for an additional fee. My **** hole, backwards redneck city is one of the only ones in the area that haven't passed this yet.

5.9, which means it's like twice as bad as a 5.8 on the screwed up Richter scale
