There is a 4th bolt to the right that holds the pump, can i remove this??

For p/s & a/c removal, What replacement bracket does this SC need?

rabyrab 11-21-2010 10:36 PM

I just removed the pump & now im gonna run a shorter belt.

Do I need to have a bracket for this unused bolt?

Does the 1.8 race kit provide a bracket?

Anybody running this kit without a/c and P/S please chime in

rabyrab 11-22-2010 11:55 PM

Is there anybody with a 1.8 running this Rotrex kit without P/S?

mgeoffriau 02-24-2011 01:38 PM

Hey Emilio, any news on when ready-to-go (or nearly-ready-to-go) 1.6 kits will be available? Not looking for a hard date for a product launch, just curious what the estimated timetable looks like -- the website still says 2010.

WonTon 02-24-2011 01:47 PM

I saw on the site that the Rotrex kits are undergoing CARB approval? any idea if its gonna be official or when its gonna be official?

Jfornachon 02-24-2011 04:09 PM

I spoke with Oscar about this issue and he confirmed that you don't need the other bolt on the p/s pump. I have mine mounted that way and it apears fine.

Do you need CARB? If not, you can buy a base/race kit and do your own IC and ECU right now.

No, no CARB. I've got an MS2 and LC-1 ready to go...I'm just feeling lazy about sorting out the IC stuff on my own. Knowing how slow my progress has been on my car up to this point, it'd just be one more thing I'd never get around to completing.

I'm really interested in the Rotrex setup though. I know the max horsepower probably isn't there compared to the current turbo setup I have right now (in boxes, not on the car), but the easy install/uninstall, dead-nuts reliability (including track use), and low intake temps are really, really tempting.

mgeoffriau 06-24-2011 01:35 PM

Emilio, what's the word on the Rotrex setup now? I saw over on m.net that 949 will not be carrying the Kraftworks kits and that Oscar Jackson is no longer affiliated with KW and will be releasing new products under Jackson Racing.

What's the upshot of all this for people interested in Rotrex setups?

emilio700 06-24-2011 01:40 PM

SuperMiata and 949 Racing will no longer offer Kraftwerks branded Rotrex supercharger systems.

Oscar Jackson is no longer involved in daily operations at Kraftwerks and will continue with a new product lineup as Jackson Racing.

This is not an official press release for Kraftwerks or Jackson Racing. Just stating this here so folks will know why they can't find Kraftwerks on our site any more.

I have zero additional information regarding Kraftwerks or new Rotrex based supercharger systems.

With delays caused by some of the internal inefficiencies of the Kraftwerks operation out of the way, I expect to see some new stuff from Oscar before too long. I expect the www.JacksonRacing.com website will be updated as they get up to speed with new projects.

mgeoffriau 06-24-2011 01:45 PM

When Oscar says he's got a new, patented Rotrex supercharger, is he referring to something different from the Kraftwerks branded Rotrex units?

EDIT: I know you just said you have zero additional information -- the question is posed generally and not addressed to you specifically.

I am all too familiar with the inefficiencies of Kraftwerks these days. :(

I can't wait for Oscar to hit full stride again with the Rotrex program.

I worked with Oscar Jackson at the 25hr race this year. He is back from retirement and going full steam ahead with the Rotrex program. I hope to see the Rotrex supercharger return from the dead on the Miata. We were able to achieve close to 300whp on my built motor using a C30-74 on E85.

Interesting. Is there genuine interest on OJ Sr's part re: the NA/NB Miata platform? It's a bit "vintage" at this point, most of what they seem to be playing with are newer chassis.

Got to speak to him briefly at the '12 T-25, seems like a real nice guy.

now THAT seems like a properly done SC setup. I wanna drive (not own) one done up properly like that someday.

EO2K 12-26-2013 07:51 PM

Last time I checked, William Chen was also running an NB with a C30-74 huffing E85 and making around 230hp? It's been a while since we chatted though so that may have changed. Its quite respectable even at "only" 230

I know he is back in the Supercharger game. I can't say if he will offer the Miata version again or not. I know Jackson Racing still retains the rights to the design so going into production would not be to difficult. It's a business decision on his end. I know Emilio was excited in the early days and would have been a driving force behind the success. It would be great to see it revived.

That was Enzo circa 2009. I used that car to clinch the Miata Challenge Unlimited championship in 2009 after blowing my car up at RTA the previous month. We removed the Rotrex for him in 2011.

I believe we made 225whp non-intercooled. We detuned it a bunch to 230whp with the small FMIC as William wanted the already ancient engine to last the season. Pull the tiny restrictor and remap would have netted 285whp based on the dyno plots. Built engine with bigger FMIC would have easily gone over 300whp.
