Adaptronic with VVT

I was wondering if anyone has gotten adaptronic to run VVT very well yet. Searching through the forum it looks like most people are having trouble. I wanted to know how much of a pain it will be if I go this route

Sounds like you're full of crap and didn't really search.
Show us the threads where people have trouble with vvt working with the Adaptronic?

That was the impression I had gotten, people just weren't controlling it with adaptronic. What are you using to control VVT?

y8s 12-04-2009 10:45 AM

stock ECU. I have my reasons. I will switch over when it's not sleeting out.

What needs to be changed in the wiring to have the stock ecu handle VVT?

Prospero 12-04-2009 11:21 AM

I'm running VVT no problems at all...

I was wondering if you had gotten it working. I remember seeing threads where it wasn't running right.

Ok, looks like I will be buying adaptronic for tuning soon.

Prospero 12-04-2009 02:45 PM

Yeah, I am super pleased... thinking about getting another one for my 99 when / if I get a good bonus this year )

According to the last ecu file you posted, you are not.

Check AUX OUT tab.

I was running VVT until my OCV valve decided to stop working.

Wow, that is strange... I thought it was working since whenever I run a log it showed movement in the VVT column.... but if that is the case... I guess I have more to do!

So is it as simple as turning on the output and then go for a drive? Is there any risk of messing my shit up? Now I am frightened!!!

Thanks for pointing this out!!!!

Cheers,
Matt

What you have seen in the logs is the vvt target, look at the "VVT Duty" and "VVT (º)".

I am trying to fine tune this part yet. BTW If you turn on the VVT on the 3# auxout, you should see something like this:

Don't forget to set "Ref 1 (º)" box in the special functions tab. The default value is 85, I had to add 10º because it's 10º advanced when it supposely must be 0º

Wow, I will go and try this when it stops snowing... but for the sake of asking... what will I notice when VVT is working? I didn't notice that it wasn't so now I am really excited to find another 2000 HP hiding in there somethere

Thanks for all the help!
Cheers,
Matt

Hmm, so I may go and just try this in the garage... but before I start the car... Does this look correct?

Auxout2: disable this, you're using a setting for the 99-00... I think is the VICS switchpoint. You don't need this since your car don't have vics.

Auxout3: check the PWM box and select 200Hz from the drop-down menu on the left.

VVT Target map: you can use the default value, it's not bad. But the best way to achieve more hp is to tune vvt on a dyno. Maybe some y8s words of wisdom are needed here.

the advance looks ok. since it's only a 2D map though, you may get some oscillation below 3000 rpm at light load. not much you can do about it without sacrificing low end.

excellent info, thanks
