Using MegaLogViewer with Adaptronic logs
I thought someone had already mentioned that this could be done but I thought I share how to make the field labels show up properly.
1. Open the Adaptronic datalog in a text editor (notepad works). 2. Replace the first line (it might wrap and make 2) that looks like this: "Time (s)","RPM","MAP (kPa)",.............,"VVT2Set","VVT2Duty","ExtIn" with this (notice no quote marks): Time,RPM,MAP (kPa),TPS (%),MAT (°C),WT (°C),AuxT (°C),AFR,Knock,Idle,MVSS,SVSS,Batt (V),Trim (%),Inj (ms),Ign (°),Wastegate (%),AdvMetric,Gear,VVT1 (°),VVT1Set,VVT1Duty,VVT2 (°),VVT2Set,VVT2Duty,ExtIn 3. Save the file and open it with MegaLogViewer. The labels will now show up correctly. |
Turbo, that is awesome. Thanks!

Well done roach! :bigtu:
|
tell adap to fix that for the next rev?
|
Sweet. I was just thinking today that it would be nice to use Megalogviewer.
|
I downloaded Megalogviewer from the link on TR's water temp graph but it gives me "Java runtime environment not found" with a download link. Which Java program does it need?
|
I don't know exactly which one it needs but the page I got it from links you to the Sun download page.
This is the site I downloaded MegaLogViewer from. |

SWEET! I had not seen that yet. Kudos to them for implementing it so quickly.

You guys are going to love this!
Here how to make this even better....
Open in a text editor [any of the .properties files will work you just have to select it in Options::FieldNaming (ECU) menu]: C:\Program Files\MegaSquirt\MegaLogViewer\FieldMaps\MegaSquir t.properties Change (or add depending on which file you selected): Time=Time ---> Time=Time (s) Start you car w/pc attached. Start logging with one of the new versions of WARI (no " in log). Open MegalogViewer (if you didn't change the MegaSquirt file, tell it which file to use). File::Trail Live Feed Select the log you just started and....enjoy not having to stair at the tiny fucking WARI live gauges. I also like to use the 'keep graph centered' option on the view menu. By the time I turn to look at the screen it is right at the center of the graph. |
I forgot to add that you can now use the playback feature after doing this.
|
wow. you guys are making great progress with the adaptronic. Starting next week I am 100% working on the miata again, and will be reading all this. Thanx TurboRoach

Oh man that is great stuff TurboRoach, thanks!

Hey I had a problem while trying trail live feed. It will work as expected for about 2-3 minutes, then Megalogviewer will just stop updating. If I start a new log file in WARI, then restart trail live feed in MLV, then it will start working again. But then 2-3 minutes later it stops again. Awesome while it works, but short lived.
Anyone else seen this? I also got the error message from MLV about ignoring "-" not sure if that is related or not since it did not do it every time it stopped updating. This could also be related to MLV cutting short a static log when it sees a "-" in a field that normally has a numeric value in the Adaptronic log; due to an input glitch or whatever I've seen the Adaptronic occasionally write a "-" instead of a numeric. |
I haven't run into that. I'm able to use it for ~1hr straight on my commute. How much memory does your computer have?
Try using the WARI linked in this thread. I've seen the "-" error but I'm not sure what causes it. Usually when MLV runs across "-" it just puts in NaN (Not a Number) and plots it as the max value. |
OK I installed both of the betas, WARI and firmware, in that thread you linked to, thanks. I'll give it a try again this afternoon.
I also e-mailed Phil Tobin (Megalogviewer author) and asked him about creating a filter, after trying unsuccessfully to implement one myself; I was going to replace all instances of "-" with 0 or something like that. He said it would not work since "-" is a non-numeric. He did say he might be able to try something else and would get back to me. |
the adaptronic logging seems to be inconsistent with adding random rows of dashes at the top. I wonder what's up with that.
|
yeah not sure. if it was not seemingly locking up MLV I would not care so much.
tried it again with the new vedrsions. same thing. Ill ley yalll know what phil comes back with. sorry no caps on a pda phone |
Try not starting the log until the ecu is powered on. I think that will keep WARI from putting rows of "-" at the beginning of the log. That's how I do it and I've never had any trouble with my logs in MLV. MLV doesn't have an issue with "-" showing up once the log has started.
