My dads car, the supercharged one, doesn't feel like a linear power curve. Its more like your going along than BAM the boost kicks, while yeah its fun, I want something that is a little more driveable on a daily basis than that. Will a turbo have a more linear power curve than that?

well, you can definitely feel it when it comes into boost, i wouldnt say it will be huge, but i wouldnt think a SC one would be either. If you have a small turbo like the gt25 in the begi-s kit then it will spool pretty quickly and you will have boost for a wide range of rpms. I would say a smaller turbo would be more fun to drive even though the max hp will be lower.

I was just curious cause my dads, while I know and understand that it isn't tuned completely right, just seems to be like no boost then out of the blue the boost is here. Wether or not the problem is because of the incorrect tuning, I have no idea. I just don't like the power curve it has right now.

yes, i do think that you will get a smooth power curve from the begi-s kit that will be very enjoyable. However, its not because its a turbo its because its a small turbo. That t25 will be giving you max boost at a low rpm so you will feel the power throughout the powerband.

The Oil pan drill and tap does not come with the kit, however it can be purchased with it for $12.50. And the only other item is does not come with.... tools.

The BEGi-S will not be like this. It will be very hard to accelerate and NOT make boost.

Steph, question about the drill bits actually.. I helped install a S2 kit...you guys include 2 bits, one for a pilot hole and the other the correct size for the tap.....but how come the large one requires a 3/4" chuck? who has one of those?! we had to go out an purchase another bit. just my .02.

A stock 1.6L Miata should be able to handle 14° of timing advance on regular gas in warm weather at sea level without pinging. If you're able to do this, it is likely that the engine builder didn't go crazy on the compression ratio. See the following for more information:
