Let's list the POS parts:

XXR 527 15x8 +0
Universal washer fluid tank/ pump (trunk mounted)
Ebay steering hub and wheel
LED interior lights
window tinit 5%

The above, it's all rice.

Noted and changed.

concealer404 10-27-2014 11:08 AM

I like that the Racelands aren't listed as mods. I DO like that the timing belt is listed as a mod.

One more step and you can put your spark plugs on your mod list, too!

The rice lands were a bonus from the PO. It's a work in progress, perhaps I should just close this up and post next year when it's finished?

No, you need this thread to make sure you don't buy stupid shit. Like ricelands or xxrs.

darkcambria 10-27-2014 11:21 AM

You seem to be a good sport about it so far. The car is doing better than when it started so keep updating to show dericing.

dieselmiata 10-27-2014 11:23 AM

Perhaps I was mistaken in your intent. It looked as if you were taking a riced out car, and adding more rice to it. If the intent is to actually de-rice the car, it will do well here provided you don't replace crap parts with crap parts.

But everyone's eyes here glaze over at the sight of a plastidip Miata. Especially one with the trifecta of fail that is racelands/xxrs/GV lip.

See that's the problem with all this. We're trying to fix your mindset.

Ricelands are never a bonus. Unless you mean it in the ironic way.

"I fucked this hooker. As a bonus, i got AIDS!"

Monk 10-27-2014 12:02 PM

You keep your ass in that chair mister. It'll be tough love, but we'll fix you. You'll be picking up dudes in your true-baller ride in no time.

It was just sarcasm, I hate them just as much as the next person, but they were on the car when I got it and brought it home. Anyway, no one has had to see this eye sore for a while as its been sitting in the garage without a motor. A couple more updates include 1.8l brakes all around

Got a roll bar locally.

After some wire wheeling I managed to get the rust out of the bay and repainted it.

And pulled the rest of the bottom end apart last night as well.

I thank all of you for the criticism, as I've said its going to take time but it will get there especially with all of you guiding me haha.

Also, for those of you interested in Sturovo's work, here is a picture of his 1.6l TD04 kit.

Mine however had a longer downpipe to eliminate the length of where the cat should go and a flexpipe was intalled.

We welcome your efforts to improve your car after someone else messed it up. You have a good attitude and I think these guys are giving you just a little too much shit.

Good luck with the build.

Thank you for the kind words sixshooter, it was really a shame the way I picked this thing up. It would scrape on everything, the fenders looked awful, both inner cv boots were trashed, also the "exhaust" or lack there of was smashed down to about .5" thick to fit under the axle. I can't believe someone would ruin an LE that way.

sixshooter 10-27-2014 01:11 PM

A lot of stupid things pass for style, like cars dragging on the ground, jeans drooping around your knees, gold teeth, ball caps turned backwards.

I appreciate your efforts to get real performance functionality out of the car.

Wow, he is getting really good at making this stuff. He used to do it all with a stick welder.

I think he does great work and would recommend him to anyone. He does all sorts of custom jobs, not just TD04 stuff. The only thing I plan on changing is the rear most flange is in a strange position just like how the rear cat flange would be positioned. I'll be making the catback myself so I may cut off his rear flange and use V-band. Can't fabricate the rest of that until I get the motor and trans back in unfortunately.

Thank you sixshooter, I wish I had a picture of the windshield banner that was on it. In bright purple vinyl it read "Slammed harder than your girlfriend" along with 15 other mindless sayings up the side. Needless to say that was the first thing to come off.

Got some new parts in today. The racing beat tubular front swaybar with adjustable end links, ARP head studs, and Eagle h beam rods. I still haven't decided on a piston yet. Really torn between wisecos or super techs. The wisecos are stronger, but heat up more and have a higher cylinder wall/piston clearance to allow for this and cause piston slapping. But I've read the super techs are made of a different alloy that will allow for a tighter clearance however are a bit weaker. Decisions decisions..

sixshooter 10-30-2014 06:07 PM

Get 8.6 Supertechs from 949 Racing. They are a good product at a good price from a forum vendor and he supplies better piston rings with his pistons than some others.

I will surely look into that. I also noticed on Fab9 Tuning they offer the super techs with Wiseco NPR XX rings as a package.

I've also come to the realization that the TD04 won't be capable of my power goals and am upgrading to a IHI VF39 STI turbo. If anyone wants a powdercoated red TD04 that's already been clocked to work with Sturovo's kits let me know haha.
