Wow, noticed I have posted anything for a while! The rear-end is done! Car is back on the ground. The cage was all done as well as the rear bumper. Also made the mounting location for the rear wing. Cut the moon-roof out and put a solid roof on. Now the small fabrication starts like the rear cooler. Next on the list is mounting the wilwood pedal and brake/clutch master cylinder assembly.

Here are some of the pictures:

FML if you already said this, but what's the weight?

bcrx7 07-18-2012 11:04 AM

with driver (~200lbs) and full tank of gas (22gal) it is going to be ~1920lbs.

Fireindc 07-18-2012 03:55 PM

Amazing. What kind of rear suspension is that? live axle? Why not IRS?

bcrx7 07-18-2012 04:07 PM

Yes it is live axle. It is an inverted triangulated four link. The IRS setup gets really complicated and the option for higher power/torque rating is limited. The gains are pretty minimal depending on the track length and layout.

Fireindc 07-18-2012 06:51 PM

Ahh yes, makes sense. Definitely not hating here, amazing build.. subscribed.

Well I had my Ironman race a couple of weeks ago and didn't do much work on the car before that. However now that the race season is over, I can spend some quality time with the car before my training gets going again.

I finished the valve cover as I had to drill and tap for the vents and also enlarge the plug holes for the COP coils.

I started cutting the firewall last night for the exhaust and that will be starting today!

And the start of exhaust system: first thing is cut some holes to fit the 3.5" exhaust that will come out the passenger side in front of the rear wheel!

Pretty minimal muffling just so I don't get annoyed driving it on the track.

So much awesome. Comparing what you are doing to what I'm doing is the difference between the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and fingerpainting a turkey by tracing the shape of your hand. I love it.

Thanks! I try!

The packaging/housing on those COPs is soooo much better than Toyota's .... are they AEM?

Also, yet another iron man competitor which makes me feel like total sh*t in terms of accomplishments. Please tell me you don't also work 60 hour weeks and find time to leisurely drink beer.

-Zach

bcrx7 09-10-2012 02:09 PM

Nope, they are WeaponX purchased from Boundary Engineering. I was tired of dealing with the Toyota Coils as I didn't have much luck with them.

I don't work 60 hours per week, around 40! Don't drink too much beer anymore as I am lightweight now!

I feel like those valve cover AN fittings are awfully small.

bcrx7 09-10-2012 04:02 PM

-10 on the "exhaust" side which will connected to an exhaust scavenge. -4 on the filtered side.

Started on the manifold this weekend. First is the collector. It was fun making it from scratch!

Used tape for the back-purging first and switched to making some aluminum caps as welding while there was a fire was not as much fun as I thought it would be!

I did some sheet metal work to make the wing mount fit the chassis better.

Also started to figure out the muffler location and where the exhaust tubing would run outside the cage. Ordered all the piping, so waiting for it to show up.
