So my build hit a bit of a speed bump, since my 2004 MX-5 was totaled at a Red Light where I was rear ended. I am still trying to get things together so I can get on track to have the engine be ready to start.

I picked up a 2006 Cobalt SS for my new DD running 17 psi on the supercharger

I'm working on widening the fenders 30mm and make moulds of them to make them into composite

So I mad some progress today after installing my newly built crossmember. The factor crossmember weighed 29.2 lbs and after it weighs 27.8 lbs, so no weight added is a good thing. The engine is now sitting an inch lower than before.

Are you going to retain the power steering?

I'm building it to be a manual steering. I should have some more updates here soon.

Here is sorta the finished product of mt Miata Aero Front Fenders

And here is how I made the Aero Fenders

First I put some 3M Spray Tack and some aluminium foil. Then I put on about 20lbs of clay to shape to the design I wanted.

After I got the shape I wanted I covered the clay with Cling Wrap. Put some more 3M Spray tack down to lay my first layer of Kevlar down and soak with resin, then next layer and the next

Before cutting and just test fitting

Now to cut the fender

Finished trunk is on the heavy side at 3 Lbs 1oz but not bad for the first one.

I am curious as to why you cut the fenders instead of leaving them long and offset. Seems like that gaping exit port would be just as good for brake cooling and I think it looks better.

Im working on moving as much air out from the front splitter ducts (coming soon). I need as much down force on the front to offset the new wing coming soon. If I want, I could go back to my original fenders.

I might make new inner fenders out of carbon instead of kevlar

I was more wondering about the fiberglass vanity panel instead of just leaving the ugly raw unibody there.
