2.5L ITB NC built for TimeAttack (with some goodies)
Hey guys!
I'm Domi from Germany.
My MX5 is a NC '08, with around 60k km.
The journey started 2017, after I crashed my first, softly modified NC on the road.
After some hospitalization I've found a new NC with my preferred spec:
-2L
-Niseko
-low km
-black
-"near mint"
-rust free
So I started modding again with SPS Motorsport.
Stage I & II (Cams) with ECUTek tune, wheels, coilovers, some other stuff.
2018 was my first trackday, and this was a game changer!
2019 the engine blowed up, so we started the ultimate N/A Build!
Here are some points:
-2,5L Engine completely built, forged, higher cr (15:1), Stage 2,5 cams, milled head, lighter crankshaft, lighter flywheel, dry sump system (tank in trunk), Jenvey ITB with some minor changes
-custom exhaust, AWR engine mounts and engine bar
-Gearbox changed to 6 speed with CAE shifter, shorter Kaaz 1,5way differential
-Liteblox battery, Megasquirt 3, Race Technology Dash 2 with CAN Adapter set (tbd at the moment)
-custom roll bar, Recaro Pole Positions, custom seat adapter (low as possible), 6 point Schroth harness, Momo steering wheel
- JR5 17x8,5 with 235/40AR1; Rota Titan 17x9 with 235/40AR1, BC Racing with changed springs, whiteline sway bars, Stop tech big brake kit
I've sure missed some points, but yeah, that's it for now.
There are still many many ideas tbd.
The car is now mainly used for Track (e.g. German TimeAttack), but is still street legal!
Here is a video of one of the last dyno runs:
A video from SPS about the whole car:
Power output is 300hp and 320nm.
with other cams we could do even more, but would reduce the low end torque.
The car drives perfect with way more punch I would expect from a N/A car, for me it's the perfect NC!

hahaha, Yes, Dimi and Jan gave everything to make that possible, all day 'n night.
But now it works like a charm.
So thankful, recommendation 11/10.
Is MS not so common in here?
Now I'm about to drop in the Dash 2 with CAN Interface, so there is a small "reunion" with Dimi hahaha
I hope I'm gettin the last bit working.
