Aidan's loose oily bunghole actually runs a track lap

I've tried all amsoil, all ford motorcraft, i think 50/50 mix, and I'm currently using all ford motorcraft with the roush synchros, oem shifter with 5x brass bushing. Shifted like **** on all combinations. This is compared to every other car I've ever driven, but I haven't driven another 6 speed miata. I LOVEd the s2000 shifter, and my 2.5rs 5 speed with basic shift kit from turn in concepts, i think.

Let me clarify his issue with the truth:
his OEM 6 speed was COMPLETELY FINE, and felt just like any other miata 6 speed I've ever driven in my life.
he hated it, because for some reason he expected a flawless, s2000 feeling shifter/transmission out of an economy sports car.
I told him it was fine.
He still wasted a METRIC TON of money to rebuild it, using parts I've never heard of before used on a miata.
it came back, after spending what, 2 grand, feeling much worse than it did originally.
to re-cap:
1)if it aint broke, don't fix it.

I remember him rebuilding the trans by those special dudes. And then the bad thing happened where he had to sell everything. But I never head what he thought about it. Thats unfortunate that it didn't meet your expectations. I would probably rage quit after I dumped a large sum of money on making something worse.

One thing I do agree with him though, is the MR shifter.
It went to junk in his car. Started rattling and got real sloppy.
No idea if he was just man-handling it and hammered out the bushing, or got a defective bushing or what
That no matter how much money you dump into a miata transmission, it will never feel like an s2000 transmission.

There is a bolt that connects the shifter pocket thing to the shift rod. It can come loose. Pat had it happen to him. And the one I took apart from my busted 6 speed was loose too.
Maybe he got the wrong size bushing.

I thought the shifter in his car felt fine too. No it doesn't feel like an S2000 shifter. No I don't like it nearly as well as my Miata with the MR tall/angled shifter.
But comparing my s2000 vs my Miata, I can't tell you which I prefer -- they're just different. The stook is smoother and lighter, but the Miata has more of a rifle-bolt quality to it which I really like.
I don't doubt that he had an issue with the MR shifter, but his transmission is just fine.

I had a failure in the plastic channel inserts of the mr shifter, and also the bottom shifter bushing cracked.
I ended up discovering the shop that reinstalled the trans and suspension did everything wrong. Thats why the shifter felt worse when I visited V. They were dumb enough to put on the mr spacer bushing clocked incorrectly over the detent pins? and there was a ton of slop.
Now its much better, but I still hate the shifting.

Finally switched over the synthetic. 1319 miles in. Track day on Thursday. Need to check over the valve train, do some more ducting and then it should be good to go. Brake pads and fluid too.
Oh and I really need to schedule dyno time. With all the valve train fuckery I missed everything I had planned
