that intake mani made my day....brb need a towel

Ben 01-08-2009 07:37 PM

Oh my!!

Remote IAC?

neogenesis2004 01-08-2009 08:03 PM

Doesn't Paul run without any IAC? Shit I ran my first motor on MS without IAC the entire time before I blew it because I had no idea wtf "that thing below the tb" was lol.

brgracer 01-09-2009 10:21 AM

I'll get pics of the runners and plenum after the IM arrives for you guys. I will probably run an IAC with the mustang TB.

As for pricing, I got prototype pricing, but talked with Rob and he said an IM would be $600 + shipping if you provide a core stock IM.

I don't run one on my 99'. Idles fine when cold if I tune it a bit rich, and idles a bit high when warm. I'm seriously thinking about putting a vacuum line Tee'd off the manifold to a solenoid or valve I can manually switch to idle up when cold, and then turn off for a normal idle when hot.

Looks good, I'm still surprised you went black instead of the tan. I really like the tan on green. But I do hate the stickey dash in the summer.

But the black looks good!

running a remote oem idle valve would be incredibly easy.

But the black looks good! And I'm sure someone will buy the tan for $$$$ to add to the project.

the black looks bomb digity. It's the best combo I've seen in a miata. I sent a picture of one to Tom, and the next day he was sourcing interior parts for the swap.

I know there is never an excuse for not working on the car, but between work, family, selling a house, and buying a house, I've been pretty busy.

Anyway, some mild progress. Turbo clocked to correct position and all fittings attached. Manifold, turbo, EWG, and DP bolted up and to the car. Able to get the oil feed line attached as well as one of the coolant lines. It's a bitch to get a hand/wrench into some of the tight spaces. Also note the one pic, the manifold is below the level of the VC so fits with ease and not even close to the hood (for those of you who thought that it looked too high). Also, ignore the yellow VC, basically a placeholder to keep crap out of the head until I get the cut VC powercoated. Next project is the IM!

Wow Tom, really looks great.

cjernigan 04-23-2009 08:25 PM

Sure does look awesome, sounds like you have one heck of a busy life going on outside of this project as well. You going to have it ready to drive this summer?

y8s 04-23-2009 08:37 PM

so hoping to have a reliably running car to come to the dyno with. adaptronic ALMOST kicked my ass. I wanna be there to see your awesome power victory.

Pitt 04-24-2009 07:55 AM

WOW! This is awesome!

BradC 04-24-2009 08:28 AM

Badass man.

Love to see it in person some day.

hustler 04-24-2009 08:37 AM

fantesticle!

TurboTim 04-24-2009 11:31 AM

Wow, do you actually plan to have it at the dyno day? That'd be cool.

Looks good.

Braineack 04-24-2009 11:35 AM

I don't think it will be ready unfortunately, close though.

Mach929 04-24-2009 11:42 AM

damn that sucks, tom you can git er done!

brgracer 04-24-2009 02:50 PM

Yeah, I wanted it to have it done for dyno day, but no dice. Just don't want to rush things and do it half-assed. Plus, I need a few more hose ends/fittings/etc..., and pretty much everything ships from warehouses in CA so 5-day wait. Sucks....it's always the little crap that holds you up sometimes.

Stripes 04-24-2009 03:15 PM

What do you need? I have plenty of leftover hoses, fittings etc from my build. I'd even give you a hand this weekend to get this 3 year project done.
