Made it out this weekend. I was in town and the weather was great so I enjoyed the new rear end. Everything has been great- Gears are nice and normally spaced, my freeway pulls feel much stronger and I'm not sitting at 4400 on the freeway anymore.
The Flyin Miata Clutch is still holding strong and I can't really say enough good things about it. Great engagement, not too heavy and overall I'm extremely happy with the performance. Kudos once more to the guys at FM. Some friends of mine moved into a shop so I stopped by to check it out. Picked up some new parts for a weekend project. Heat has been an issue in the past so in prep for some upcoming track events I've decided to be a bit pro-active.
My eBay radiator fan will likely do just fine but It's fan/shroud setup is lacking. Picked up myself the Mishimoto fan/shroud setup. It's affordable looks great and will certainly do the job. The next step was brakes. Found out later in the game that I have the "Sports Suspension" package. This means my Rotors, calipers and pads are all larger than the standard setup. This also unfortunately means that nobody stocks the rotors.
My choice of parts:

White cars for the win. http://www.miataforumz.com/attachmen...ine=1334591214 The install went pretty smooth. I ended up replacing the passenger front wheel bearing. There was some play and I had noticed some noise while rolling but brushed it off as tire/road noise. New wheel bearing (hence the new studs) and my brakes were done. I quit...The way you spend and your attention to detail makes me feel like my car belongs on CR...watching your build is almost UN-motivating, because my attempts would seem futile in comparison.

I would suggest an OEM radiator cap, those mishimoto units are prone to leaking, and it's a only $2 insurance.
Otherwise it looks great. Concentrate on ducting forward of the radiator, although if it's all stock body work up there you should be good. Try to think of your car standing on it's rear bumper. If you pour water in the nose, will it all go through the radiator, or chose an easier route? |
