So i spent some time last night removing the turbo off the car to put on the smaller mk turbo. I dropped the car off in the morning to have it re-tuned and have the knock sensor installed since i really don't want to mess with the ECU. I purchased a FM knock sensor mount, bought the sensor on amazon to save a little bit of money cause i had to save for the TSE and 6758 i just bought

Same tuner for a few reasons - He's the only one that would touch my ECU in the area. + Only one that would get to me in a reasonable time.

I should have a new dyno, probably the last dyno on Mkturbo sometime today.

NA Miata doesn't come with a knock sensor, NB+ do

Ahh didn't know this, that might've changed my decision but - no regrets.

Original MkTurbo 16-17psi tune - Wasn't reved to 7k because no more power was being made. - I was shooting for 20 but apparently the actuator arm wouldn't give anymore without some creep. Either way the car is very enjoyable as is - i still prefer this smaller turbo over the bigger one - just have some leaks to fix while i wait for the TSE Kit.

Next step here would've been E85/racefuel / 25 psi+ but I rather wait for the 6758 first

Looks good, I can't seem to maintain 18psi past 6200 or so on the small turbo either. The thing spools like mad though, feels like instant torque. I bet you are having fun

That dyno just shows how perfectly shiuend did things to get it to be at a level that was relatively low risk as far as boosting engines goes.

Looks like a hoot. Can't wait to see what things look like with the EFR.

Have to agree with both of you this turbo setup really is perfect for a stock engine setup, it feels like its not even turbocharged.

Hopefully i can get the motor dropped into my other car by next week so i can start dailying that again.

This may sound strange but I honestly can't wait to pull the motor on my miata again - I have a lot planned for when the TSE Kit goes in.

I'm hoping that I can convince you to feel the same way about pulling mine!

Thanks for the help with 80% of the rollbar last night! We would have finished if not for my bone-headed-ness.

Looking forward to popping over when you get the TSE setup!

Thanks for the ride along as well. First time in an MKturbo setup and it was honestly pretty awesome. I think I'd be pretty happy with the setup. You're the finest kind of madman though, so I can't see where this build ends up. Might have to change the thread title soon though!

No problem, Glad you finally got it sorted !

I made some baby steps last night and installed the studs into the TSE Manifold, Andrew said they would be pretty tight, so i didn't expect them all to strip a little of the threads. I expect this to be normal as they all went smoothly in with the wrench.

All studs in

A few more goodies for new parts - I will replace every single piece of hardware that gives me any issues or looks too old for my bay. In this case i was missing a few nuts on the intake manifold, and a stud on the exhaust manifold. I also got some replacement bolts for my valve cover thrown in for free too! ( Thank you bill)

When I last installed some of the TSE inconel studs in my TSE manifold I did not strip any threads what so ever.

I would think stripped threads would not be good for holding a stud in.

For the record - that picture is the worst of the 4, not all threads were stripped.

That's why i reached out to andrew before i installed them..

"Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the threads should be tight on the stud, tight enough that you can't install them with your hand. Same as any other threaded stud. They should wind in smoothly with a wrench, though. "

Paging Savington!
