I've heard mixed stuff about Begi but I've only heard great things about FM, plus their customer service has been absolutely phenomenal. Their stuff is a little on the pricey side, but it's all been track tested and proven. I got a quote from FM for just over $2.7k for everything except for the turbo and electronics, which includes the full exhaust system and some extra goodies like a turbo fuse and gauge pod. I would have to pick up a MS and do the boost control mod, get a GT2554r, some injectors and a couple of gauges and I should be good to go. But this is all going to be a gradual collection of things, it won't all be purchased at once. I bought my wheels and tires today, gonna put some money into the suspension next, then get the MS and learn how to tune, and finally start getting the turbo stuff together. I've got to get good at driving the car first, so I'm going to try to put in as much seat time as possible!

Thanks for the post, bud! I know I'm new to this, and all I'm here to do is learn. I can easily do that without having to endure posts like this. There's no reason to get on forums to do anything more than spread knowledge and ask or answer questions, nobody likes a keyboard warrior.

Yes i know, i'm running a begi kit my self. As i said the wait time is crazy but we got winter coming in so good idea to order the kit so you can get it by the summer

It looks like you have a sane goal, so that's good. I have a similar power goal with my 1.6. Save yourself the time and headache and money: Buy the FM2 no-electronics kit and clutch happy meal. Forget the stupid "boost fuse", and buy a MSLabs MS3 Basic. Run the car on [7psi] wastegate pressure while you hone your tuning skills. Once you can tune the car to idle and run butter-smooth at part throttle, WOT tune is a cakewalk.

why $2.7k? That sounds real expensive without turbo.

I was thinking about doing this. I had planned to go without the intercooler as well (keep intercooler pipes, leave out the intercooler itself and go with a different source like Fab9).

Also: It's easy for you to say "we should all be here to learn and help each other" but YOU'RE the one learning, and WE'RE the ones helping.

The plethora of stickies are very helpful. The search function is also quite good, even if you do it via Google. Throw "Miata" in your question and chances are it's already been covered on this forum. It's important to define your project within your capabilities early on so you don't distract yourself with the "ALLOFIT" builds where these guys are spending $30k+ on a soviet-esque Giga-build.

Thanks for the info! I want to get a MS but I'm still trying to read about the differences between all the different versions. The MSPNP for $800 looks like it will do everything I want but I'm still trying to learn as much as I can before I actually put down the money. I'm going to put the turbo kit together with a SR20 turbo at 5 - 6 psi to learn how to tune before putting in the GT2554r and injectors.

Thank you for the well wishes! I know this is going to take time, but it's a project, it wouldn't be any fun if I could put it all together at once, lol.

Projects aren't fun when you install an sr20 turbo with stock injectors with the intention of moving to a 2554 and not-stock injectors. ... later...

I agree, that's why I'm leaning towards putting my own kit together instead of buying one preassembled. I think it would be more work but more cost effective.

he's saying that cause a 2554r is essentially a t25 with ball bearings. not much of an upgrade over a t25

I have run everything from a gt2560r to a gt3076

most current setup I have a t25g and gt2560r sitting here in front of me and can't decide which to run.

I am no longer interested in making absurd power. I just don't care anymore.
