Went back out for more fun in the garage last night.

Found the issue with the gauges- two connectors under the dash on the passenger side of the car (above the blower) weren't connected. Plugged them in, everything works.

Started cleaning up the engine bay, collecting tools and screws and whatnot. Found a metal ring that looked familar; rather like the one that goes on top of the crank pulley. Just the one from the spare motor, right? Wrong.

So I pulled the accessory belts and then removed the crank pulley. The bolts holding the pulley on were quite loose. The locating pin on the timing sprocket is MIA. That's nice.

The only good things about this is that adjusting belts now pisses me off somewhat less and that I found the loose crank pulley before it made a big damned mess.

Next:
Install shifter and shift boots
Deal with missing roll pin on timing sprocket
Install crank pulley and belts, adjust belts

Install wheels and steering wheel
Install seat belts

"Let's go be bad guys."

Did you decide to lower the driver's seat while you had it apart? The rear pedestals coming out gave me about an inch drop over stock height at the rear.

Reinstalled crank pulley. Blue loctite on threads, 12ft/lbs per each 10mm bolt.

Reinstalled accessory and alt belts. Tensioned them, but forgot to secure the PS and Alt bolts. Will do that tomorrow.

Put hood back on.

No discernable pulley wobble with engine running. Even running quieter now. HLA tick on startup, went away within seconds.

Next:
Install shift boots and ****
Wire up reverse lights

Wire clutch to starter interlock
Install seat belts
Install wheels
Replace wipers
Install plates and registration sticker
Get inspected

Nope, not tall enough to need to do that. Plus the stock seat is temporary. Have a set of Sparco Torinos that are going in.

So very close to being able to get it inspected.

The only issue is... The bloody horn doesn't work. Fuse is fine; brake lights still work. Horn relay does not click when horn button is pressed. Tried attaching connector to the fuse next to it. Still doesn't work (or even click). Horn switches in steering wheel check out fine.

Spent almost four hours chasing this damned problem. Do not understand why I'm having such a problem figuring it out. Incredibly frustrated.

Horn is still not functioning.

But drove it around the block! Was great.

Need to adjust the clutch engagement.

Also, it's smoking a bit from behind the engine and in front of the radiator. Odd.

Drove fine though. Damned happy.

Have you test fit the Torinos yet? I've always liked those seats but wasn't sure if they would fit.

It'll be a tight squeeze. I'll need to remove one of the two seatback adjusters on each seat, and it looks like the shoulder bolsters will want to interfere just slightly with the trim behind the seats (but this may change once the seat is on brackets).

Have let this build thread get out of date, but as of now:

Energy Suspension bushings are installed in all control arms. Also installed ES front sway bar mounts.

NB Illuminas, 400f/250r springs, no rear sway bar, gc bumpstops, fatcat shock mount bushings, NB shock mounts, and 93LE tie rod ends.

Was up until 2:30 this morning finishing it up so it'd be ready for today's alignment appointment. Alignment was done half-assed... Didn't even look at caster. Pressed for them to do so... 2.4 front left, 3.6 front right. Shop manager tried to tell me that caster wasn't adjustable and that it was within factory specs besides. Told him he was wrong on both accounts (3.6 is the low end of factory spec, 2.4 is nowhere near it- but "factory specs" are not relevant because when making the appointment he agreed to do them to my specs, so caster = 5.5 or fail), then he said that he didn't know how to adjust it so couldn't. Steering wheel is also off-center. Shop thinks I should just live with it and wants to charge me another $60 to do the job they agreed to do and were paid for- I have initiated a dispute with credit card company.

Will get alignment re-done by a competent shop ASAP. Did not spend all this time wrenching on the car so that I could hobble it with a half-assed alignment.

Doesn't the horn go through the airbag harness?

Mine's never worked, and I just ripped out all the airbag stuff (full harness, all sensors and brain), so I'm going to make a seperate relay for the horn.

Only part I left were the leads on both sides of the clockspring just to make that part easy.
