Post Going Nowhere Fast

I purchased the car during the first week of December 2012. Most of the work had been done before I bought it so I don't know its history. I bought it and just intended to drive it and enjoy a turbo miata. I made a couple of changes to the suspension to make it feel better on the road and drove it for almost a year.

That brings us up to August 2013. Below is a part of a previous post...

"So the other day I noticed a ticking sound coming from my engine. Also I noticed I was smoking on decel. Sounds like the noise is coming from the bottom end."

And here is an update to how the car looked in 2013.

So far that motor is still not apart. The noise only happens under light load and i hear it the best around 3k rpms. Ill just keep running it until it dies or the new motor is finished. But since then I have started collecting parts to build a new setup. And being that I'm starting fresh, I figured why not go bigger with the build and have some fun.

Here is a list of modifications to date:
95 Miata
PS, power windows, no A/C
MegaSquirt MS1 DIY
LC1 wideband
FM manifold
GT2560R, low miles, boost currently set to 14 PSI
Custom 2.5" downpipe
FM 2.5" cat-back
Large CX-Racing Intercooler
FM intercooler hose and elbow
Turbosmart Vee-Port Pro BOV
3-row radiator (fully ducted)
Toyota COPs
coolant re-route
460cc Injectors (RX7)
6-speed transmission
F1-Racing Stage 3 clutch
Polyurethane control arm / diff / motor mounts
R-package Bilsteins with 450lb / 250lb springs with Ground Control Kit
SuperMiata Sway Bar kit from 949Racing
Stock brakes with large brake cooling ducts / powerslot rotors
6UL 15x9 wheels / 225x45 Toyo R888s
GV Rep front lip / R-package rear spoiler
Sparco EVO 2 driver seat fixed to floor using side mounts
Sparco 4-point harness
Hard Dog double-diagonal roll bar with harness bar
Carbing front strut bar
Carbing rear strut bar
cut rear bumper

These are parts that I have:
Eagle Rods with ARP bolts
Supertech 9.5:1 pistons w/ Wiseco XX Rings
FM dual feed fuel rail
ID 1000cc Injectors
ARP Main Studs
ARP Head Studs
AEM Tru-Boost controller
Water Injection
Turbosmart 38mm UltraGate

These are the things I still need to purchase:
BE Street Oil Pump
ACL bearings
Gates timing belt/water pump/pulleys
3" downpipe/3" exhaust/vibrant muffler
949 Twin Disc Clutch
Garret GTX2867R
Full engine gasket and seal kit
Oil Cooler/filter relocation

Ill update and edit as parts come in and as progress happens. This is slow going on limited funds and limited time.

I'm guessing tire fitment vs. fender edge.

Driving down the freeway and it came apart at 70 mph. Tire shop thinks the tire was a bad one.

That is the inside of the wheel. So it wasn't a fender. Bought a replacement tire and tried to make it rub something and it never did. That happened after about 2000 miles on the tires. The replacement has been on there for probably around 6000 now and have no issues.

OP, Front tire?
Front passenger.

Kinda trying to help with the lag I'm going to get from the bigger turbo. I'll be running E85 as well.

Some more parts I have picked up along the way.

APR GTC 200

Warhorse Diffuser

HKS Cam Gears

ProjectG Oil Cap and FM Cam Gear

Just put on the 15x9 6UL with 225x45 Toyo R888s last weekend. (rear hadn't settled yet and the only rubbing I am getting is against my brake cooler ducts. Going to have to re-route them and I want to get a roll and pull on the fenders to be safe.)

Default Out of storage for the year!

These photos are a little old. This was just before I moved. Not much is different about the car. Still pulling strong.

Set of spare tires.

Thank you Revlimiter!

Got my hands on some Turbo Kittens!

Picked these canards up from a local guy for cheap. He makes them. Gladman Performance Fabrication - Gladman Performance Fabrication

Also picked up a 4" straight shift extender. Just started testing it. Not sure how I feel about it yet though.
