Sad little motor can't wait for all this dust to go away so it can be clean again...



Now all that hard work of shaping and making the form I want gets taken away to make room for the fiberglass and give it something to bite onto.





And then the glassing begins.




Fortunately the front fenders come off easily making the underside easy to do. The rears... that's a different story.

Back to the glass. Lay it on, trace it out. Cut!




First layer done and puppy proof. A true test of weight bearing load...


Layer two done on the topside. Now just to finish up the wheel wells and then it's filler time.

Well... That was one heck of a long weekend. 55+ hours this weekend put on the build. Had a couple helpers to get some of the smaller tasks tidied up.

So here we go.


Since I sell all sorts of LED's I get the cream of the crop when it comes to my own vehicles. These bad boys have barely hit the market in North America. Hella dope imo.



Also brought in some of these to try. Customizeable light bars. Mount them in any configuration you like and as many as you want.




Came across this picture again. I still like my subframe,



Fiberglassing continued to completion this weekend.



And If you balance things just right you can get away with some tricks here or there.




After the glassing was done, it was time for the body filler.


Denzel here is my redneck apprentice. He's fitting in quite well.



This popped up on miata club. Guy is making t-shirts. Love it!


I immidiately had to improvise my own manlyishnesskindasortawannabe blow dryer mod.


Denzel spent most of the weekend wiring lights.



Rock lights are 90% done.



Light bars are waiting for the roof rack to get finished. Had to test out some functions. Here's your sneak peek.



Sand and add... sand some more and add some more. I spent close to four hours on this front fender. Sanding by hand.

Almost done sanding. Not 100% there but we are close to the primer stage.



And after soooo many long hours working on the car, I had to call it a night. I cleaned up and left her there until tomorrow.



I lived streamed most of the weekend on my Eppic Industries fb page. Hit 66,000 hits today. That was kinda neat.

So all this hard work has me totally exhausted and I'm starting to get sick because of it. So I'm trying to slow down a bit. However, this thing is due for a big off-road event next weekend so there's a bit of a push to get it painted. I wont get everything done that I was hoping to get done by then. But that's ok. It's just a car. It's already a super bad-*** machine like this.
Here's yesterdays progress.

New custom LED switches came in.



Didn't get to priming yet. Keep finding little things here and there that I may as well do now while i'm this far. Like paint the hood. Ya it's black but it's a different black. Rattled canned by some previous owner once upon a time.



Give her a bit of a bath to see where I really am with the body work.



At least I got the inside of the front fenders coated. Just rattle canned. Don't care how that part looks. It's getting a liner anyway.

As things continue I keep finding little things to take care of. Like some dents from the inside... Pulled out the ol hammer and dolly and pounded that sucker back flat.





Then it was onto some more metal fab.

It's been a full long weekend.

Almost ready for primer.






And just like that it's all the same color now. Nice to finally have everything all the same color.











My favorite part of painting a car is the teenagers face stage...



And the bumper was getting a bit of work done today aswell. Not totally sold on it's looks but at this point I just need something on there so I can drive around.

Ya I definitely did that already. haha Now just wait till I have a hitch on there yet too. That's going to become a double wammy for me knees.

It's -20c or colder here 5 months out of the year. With all that airflow underneath I don't even need a rad really. In all honesty I bet you it would run too cold with no rad and no thermostat. Just looped with a big ol hose.

Alrighty alrighty. This morning I woke up at 2am. Stayed in bed till 4am trying to sleep but alas I gave up and headed to the shop to paint. With my hot cup of coffee and a healthy ol lickin from Turbo, I was wide awake and ready to go.





With a shiny layer on there all my dents and non straight lines magnify nicely as to show me where to improve things for Prototype #2. (Yes Yes I too can see that it's not perfect. Ran out of time to get out the laser and check things. This thing is going in the bush next weekend anyway.)









But... with a little bit of flat clear, much of the imperfections are hidden. I still think it looks freakin awesome!









And now things can start going back together. Had a bunch of old conveyor belt in the back 40. Works great for wheel well liners.






That's all for now. I'm going to take a nap while my clear coat cures. Super tired. Re-assembly will begin this evening I think.

It's my birthday today. I'm an old man now I guess.

There's far to much chrome on this car still...





As she goes back together, things are getting a real good deep cleaning.





And then we start the lighting install.









And the hater bumper is finished now too.



Totally different looking car with the roof on.











And I had to go get myself some groceries. Fridge has been empty for the last two weeks since I've been at the shop building this thing.

Worked super hard the last few days to get the Eppic Offroadster ready for the Mega run. Didn't get everything done that I wanted but none the less, a good time was had by all.

Started making a new switch panel. Lots of wiring to do yet.







Needed some late night snacks to keep me going. Didn't have a pizza cutter in the shop, so I improvised.



And it a last minute effort to fab a light bar rack using whatever we could find... this is what we came up with.







Not all ideas are good ideas. I've got over 3000 hours into this build. a 3 hour light bar rack was a little too gambler500 for me. Didn't end up using it. Needs much much MUCH more attention and design to flow with the vehicle.





But the day of the mega run came and so the Eppic convoy rolled out ready to have a great day in the snow. And we accomplished that with ease. (unedited phone pictures. HD pictures yet to be processed)













And of course, after a day in the snow, you need a day in the shop to dry off.\

I think you're more than a little insane, but these posts sure are entertaining.

Oh, and good call on the light bar contraption. Looks too ghetto compared to the rest of the car.
