Painter's tape is totally track legal! Looks like you are done to me.

(that reminds me, I need to take my numbers off)

Hey! It's a few weeks before M@MRLS so it's time to work on the car right?

I figure I'm not going to get the windshield in in time, so I decided to poke at logging data while driving.
I have a pretty powerful but really small linux machine that I plan on mounting in the car and using for logging and data display.

This evening between a bunch of resources*, I managed to get python to log decoded data over the serial connection(I'll work on CANBUS logging when my CAN hardware gets here).

What data rate are people logging at with their fancy Dataloggers? I seem to be able to log between 20Hz and 40Hz before I start getting malformed data from the MS and that seems like it would probably be fast enough?

If I get this working nicely and cleaned up, I'll post a write up and github link

*
- MS2 serial protocol docs
- PySerial docs
- MS2 3.3.2 b6 ini
- A dude on the interwebs that did this in a more complicated manner

I log different things at different rates, between 10 and 100Hz depending on the value. Stuff that changes rapidly I log at higher rates (MAP, brake pressure, etc), stuff that's slower I log at lower rates (coolant or oil temps, for example).

The MS3 will happily send a ton of stuff at 100Hz over CAN.

Whelp it's a few weeks (or just one, who's counting - edit: apparently not me, as it was two weeks to go when I posted this) before M@WRLS, so it's time to do something to the exofish!

I finally started working on actually mounting the windsheild and it's been so easy that I feel silly for not doing it sooner. The locations for the mount holes were already marked in the cowl. So I just drilled them out and mounted the frame. I added a center brace to the dash bar for some more rigidity (not pictured).

I'll take it to a near by glass place and have the glass glued to the frame sometime this week or early next week. I ordered a suction cup mount rear view mirror and I'm excited to be able to actually see the people coming up behind my slow *** now! I also ordered a manual boost controller for more vrooms.

Haha! That giant mirror blocks 1/4 of the windshield!

Well, that wasn't as bad as it could've been... Might need to add some more urethane to the edge to make it look nicer, but it's attached now.

That looks great! Nice Speedracer look.

I need to come up with something for my car now that I took off the dune buggy windshield that I used for registration.

I cleaned up the garage this evening and set aside a pretty good sized pile of miata parts to try to sell/give away at M@WRLS next weekend. Come find me if something in this thread looks interesting

Won't your fancy helmet with its chin and top spoiler work?

Seems like it's that time of year of again.

I'm currently in the middle of a rather large garage remodel so the exofish has been in storage for, well, a very long time. I think the last time I drove it was for Monterey car week last year?

But I paid for track time at Miatas at Sonoma, so I should probably get it out of the storage unit and check the fluids/brakes/buy a new odyssey battery.

In the same boat. Need to get Exocet running after its bizarro cooling problem where all the coolant turned to jello. Unfortunately I’m about to 1/2 way into the front suspension rebuild on the Suburban (tow vehicle) and getting my in-law’s house for sale in Ceres.

Its going to be a bunch of long nights.

How’s the garage ADU going?

Whelp, no Exofish this year :(
I am still coming, but will be tracking @Cxracer's track rat.

1.6NA vs exofish, should feel about the same right?

The Track Rat in all it’s glory at Laguna Seca today (90db day lol)

Just to give context to our incredible lap times… 94 1.8l with a hot air intake and 205/50R15 3 year old Kumho V730s.
