I purchased this from a slightly effeminate guy that does hair on weekends. Not even joking.
Are we excited? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421607950 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421607950 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421607950 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421607950 |
Looks cute
|
Black cherry mica?
|
I dunno. Whatever color the 2000 Special Edition was. Burgundy Purple?
|
at least the hair dressers don't rice them out.
|
Guess it's Mahogany Mica. No rice, much gross.

Is this the one that was on craigslist for almost two months? I considered it myself, but realized my hands are already full with my current piece of shit.
|
Most recent ad was 25ish days old. He's had it for sale since October though. Everyone flaked. Dunno if his price was higher then or what, but this thing was a steal and a half.
It's ugly, but worth the price in mechanicals alone. |
Looks like garbage. Perfect. I'm excited. I really like the color actually.
|
Look here, hater. It's got a clean title and i drove it home under its own power. 6spd shifts awesome, brakes are fucked up and terrifying, and it does awesome burnouts.
|
I said I'm excited and you know full well it looks awful.
Sure you got it super cheap too. Win. Gross. |
It has a 6 speed? Fuck! Now I'm kicking myself.

Because 2000 SE. And yes, n/a track bitch. |
Glad to see you got it, That car was perfect, everithing that was messed up has to go anyways and it has all the goodies you want at a bargin and pretty low miles to.
I was looking at it as well but could not take on a third Miata... |
It's a 10AE with classier appointments. Fantastic car.

Have you pre-ordered xidas yet?

It'll wear the Swank Force Racing Bilstein setup. And some 15x9s i just ordered. |
Congrats on selling the '95 and getting the '00SE Ben!
Oh and on already getting more replies(than me) with not one thing done to it yet! :bowrofl::rofl::facepalm: j/k..but truth. :crx: |
I ummm.... did a big burnout, bounced the rev limitter a few times, ran it out of brake fluid, the decided to see if it had oil in it.
In that order. Then pumped some old school hip hop on the phat Bose stereo. (Seriously might leave that because it's hilarious.) :bowrofl: |
Nice. Full of win. In all respects.

Oh. Didn't know that was something people cared about. :giggle:
$2300. Zero rust, strong motor, buttery smooth shifter, 97k miles. |

Bought things.
949 lugs and valves. 949 clutch line 949 brake lines Clutch master and slave from 949 and..... bronze 15x9 Jongbloeds. |
eww, why jongbloeds?
I mean I absolutely LOVE them, but would never put boat anchors on a n/a track rat. |
Because cheap and strong.
And because i've had bowel movements bigger than the weight difference between them and 6uls. Let's try to keep the world in perspective, here. I weigh 150lbs. 2lbs heavier wheels isn't going to ruin my car, and at $432 shipped, I really dgaf. |
I heard that every pound of unsprung weight is worth 7'ish pounds of sprung? Plus, that rotational mass is going to hurt you as well. Either way, I think it's bad ass and jealous of that deal, body damage or no. I'd be tempted to make it nice. Glad it's not me that bought it :)
|
I mean in the grand scheme of things, if you're not trying to be ultra competitive and squeeze out every last .0001 second out then it's no big deal.
I'm just saying if I was building an n/a miata, I'd make sure to run the lightest stuff. On a street car I probably wouldn't have even made the comment |
Would spending twice as much for 6uls that aren't in stock right now help me win the HPDE?

Anyways, lucked out and there was a 2002 in the junkyard. Pulled the entire interior out of it for $138. Won't use it all but i wanted all of it just in case.
|
Hell yes it would.
That's what I had to keep telling myself when I clicked the buy button on 750 shipped new 6ULs that aren't in stock. |

Page 3 with no real progress.
Ban. |
Page 3 only if you suck at internet. Ban!
Page 1 here, and i've only had the thing for about 30 hours haha. It's not driveable until i fix the brakes. Waiting on parts. |
Positive manifold pressure or GTFO!

I like riding 6ul sack. I just need to save money to get the mx6 going.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww yiss.
Can't wait to post this build thread over at M.net and see what they think about a black interior in a 2000 SE. The haul: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421765521 You can fit an entire Miata interior quite easily in a Cherokee. Probably three if you got a little creative. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421765521 There were a couple guys poking through the Miata when i first got there. They left, i cleaned house. There's nothing in the interior save for a bunch of wires. I took all the hardware as well. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1421765521 |
very cool
black>tan all day urry day |
Yuuuup. I'll be able to part out the tan/wood awfulness for about 2-3x what i paid for all the black stuff, too.
There was a huge line for cashier at the yard, they were frazzled. Ended up pretty much charging me for the dash, one of the three carpet pieces, and the weatherstripping. $138 out the door. |

What are your plans with it? Bulletproof hoonmobile/trackmobile. Will eventually get a head shave, port work, SUBs, valve springs, and Megasquirt. I'd like to end up around 150-160whp, and 2100lbs and still be reasonably streetable. I just want tons and tons of seat time and not have to plan months in advance for events. Oh there's a track day next weekend? Ok i'm in. |

I really just wanted to follow the MiataTurbo circle of life.
Have/build a turbo car or two. End up with n/a car. I really just did this to fit in with the cool kids. |

Fixed bucket seats: Cheap bastard who likes bolt in things edition.
Sparco Sprints? Momo Start? With what mounts/sliders? I do need sliders, as both myself and my wife will drive this thing. She usually sits about 2" closer than i do. |
I got a straight pipe sitting behind my garage with your name on it...
|
Sparco Sprints with the PCI v1 brackets?
How often will you be changing the seat position? Sliders are convenient, but it would be impossible for me to pass a broomstick test with them. If the v1s won't work, I'd try fabbing something up. And possibly remove the rear humps to get moar low. |

And possibly remove the rear humps to get moar low. Won't be changing seat position super often. Most often at autocrosses i would say. True OEM-like sliders aren't a necessity. I'm 5'9 with a 31" inseam. Wife is 5'5". Fab isn't really an option for me, i don't do that stuff. :bowrofl: |
Do you care about comfort?
If not, then order a set of the Sparco Sprints with sidemounts. They'll bolt up to the stock sliders and for me (about 5' 8") pass the broomstick test. If you're a lot taller than that, knock out the rear humps and pick up the no rear humps seat mount kit. PM Brian at Fab9 and I bet he'd give you a great deal on the whole mess. If you like comfort.... don't buy the sprints. ha. |
