The up side to this coffee straw piping is that I should be able to route it without any modification to the car, MSM style, and not have anything rattling or rubbing, which is a big deal for me.
The weird thing about the 01 vs my previous 00, is it seems to have much less room in the cold side path. The way ac lines are routed, and the way everything sits, and with my oversized rad, had I run 2.5" piping I would definitely have to trim a few things. And I'm trying to stay away from that. I want this thing to bolt in, just as sturdy as OEM (which is why I'm supporting it with a good amount of brackets) and be beyond a doubt reliable.
And based on my calculations in the fmic/piping thread, this setup SHOULD support the turbo I'll be running, without any choking

That's the kicker for me too, I have read SO MANY THREADS on the topic that I can't even remember what I remember from them, and NOT A SINGLE ONE has direct factual evidence of doing it 1 way vs the other and what exactly happens with different sizing/etc.
Everyone THINKS they know, and everyone has their own "sound" logic towards the topic, but no one has any REAL proof.
LOL
So I'm going to just try it myself and see what I end up with.

Someone with easy dyno access should just do back to back runs with a piece of 2" pipe thrown in. If there's no difference I'm calling it good enough.
For the head ache of running 2.5", I'm fine with my 2".

Thanks guys. I already have logs and plots from my old setups (though different overall of course, both used 2.5")
I'd gladly test out 2.5" coldside piping back to back with 2" if I had some, but not going through the trouble of fabricating both. Welding supplies and aluminum is not cheap lulz
If for some uncanny reason I end up choking up top and I know its the piping, I'll then sell the setup to someone with a 2560 or something and make another using larger piping.
But like y'all said, it will most likely be fine.
Now to find the QUIETEST vta bov
*edit: also the core just arrived:

You can muffle the bov btw by attaching one of those foam mushroom filters on it. I've heard people stuffing the filter with one of the foam things for washing dishes with even better results.
You can muffle it further by running a small pipe inside the fender and locating the filter in there.
