Ok serious question:
I'm ordering water lines and oil drain line, and have NO idea about -AN sizing. I've done some searching on this in the past, but can't seem to find the thread anymore. For my water lines, I need 5/16" which is 8mm, which is -8AN right? For my oil return line, I need 5/8, which is 16mm, which is -16AN? Is this right or am I way off here? Trying to order stainless braided lines asap. |

AN is pretty easy.
whatever the number is divide by 16 and that's your OD. welcome to not being a n00b. that chart is BS. this wouldn't be a problem if people stopped using the same assindine measuement system ever developed in the history of anything. |

Though when I was talking to a turbo rebuilder when I was working on a customers car, the builder suggested that for garrett turbos that the ID of the oil drain in the smallest part (usually the elbow) should be a minimum of 1/2" ID. Most -10an fittings are less than 1/2" ID FWIW... he said go to -12an fitting and never every worry about the drain. Finding a -12an fitting can prove to be difficult though. |

Well I don't need a fitting, I have two barbs pointing at each other, so the -10AN would be a completely straight short tube, and more than enough flow to not be a restriction. |

So are my sizes still off then?
Here is where I'm thinking of ordering from: Braided Stainless Steel Lines My water lines are sourced from the regular locations 1 on the mixing manifold 1 on the front water neck. Pretty sure they are both 5/16" OD fittings (so my ID on the hose needs to be somewhere around that size) My oil return is 2 5/8" barbs (so my ID on the hose needs to be somewhere around that size). |
I've always gone with 6an if it's flexible hose for turbo water lines. Are you running stainless flex braided for return too?
Summit racing has a hose calculator thing for ordering AN when you have regular hose diameter numbers... It's been a while though. |

Are you looking for a braided hose? I went with silicone (5/8 size with barbs like yours) and it's been holding up great so far. No leaks, still soft and plyable, etc.

I know it sounds wack, but I've even had luck with that universal braided hose kit for an s13/4. Kinugawa has a decent one. I've done that on a nx2000 I built with a t28 so figured I'd try it on the miata and a 2560. Figured since it was a Garrett it would work and it did. Came with all the paper/metal gaskets as well. I've always just rocked silicone for the oil drain, if I did rubber I just make sure to use a paper drain gasket and a longer metal tube from the turbo to dissipate some of the exhaust heat. AN drain is kinda baller though.

I believe this is for hard lines. The wall thickness seems way too thin for a hose/braided.

I already have the oil pan welded with a fitting and a brand new turbo fitting from kinugawa so that's all done. Just need the actual hoses for water lines and oil drain.
So -6AN for water and -10AN for oil return it is then. Ordering |
Vlad, i think you should return your Begi manifold and get the tacotaco manifold.
