Hamster - a pre-loved NA VVT swap that is now mine!
#22
Been having issues with starting the car. Also a "misfire" or something intermittently whether at idle or high rpms. Put the fuel pump on a stand alone relay and discovered that while starting, it would actually click on and off. Tapping the main relay with a screwdriver would make it start normal again. Decided to get rid of the relay and fuse box in the engine bay and replace with a Rowe Amplink. Haven't done a track day yet but it finally starts normal!
Only the main fuse and btn fuse remain in the engine bay. The cockpit fuse box still remains. Also added a 100A CB at battery.
Once you try solid state programmable, you will never want to use relays and fuses again! Amplink has only 5 of the 6 circuits used as follows.
Circuit 1 11.25A cooling fan
Circuit 2 11.25A cooling fan (total 22A)
Circuit 3 Fuel Pump 13.75A
Circuit 4 Inj, IAC, VVT (PWMs have flyback diodes added) 13.75A
Circuit 5 Coolshirt, blower, 12V aux 10A
