Default Heitzke's wildly deviating NA project

Long initial post/thread - I need to document this stuff somewhere and have fun with it again.

Just so the thread isn't SO boring, here's where the car is right now and then i'll backtrack through all the really shitty stuff.

Current situation:

'90 NA
Factory optioned no abs/ps/ac

Engine:
Like, so super sweet *** stock

Suspension:
Fat cat motorsports coilovers, 550/450 w/ spherical top mounts
RB front/rear sways (Idk, came with the rear)
RB sway blocks
949 front endlinks

Chassis:
BBFW single diagonal (love this thing)

Wheels:
16x9.5 CCW LM5T
245/30/16 T1R
949 lugs

Interior:
Momo prototipo
? that's it

Ok then let's go through some stupid stuff. It was lifted using the Paco Motorsports setup and 25" 185/75/14's. Made a KILLER winter car

But let's go back to where it all started. Getting loaded onto the carrier :

When it finally arrived at the pre-divorce home. Came on RB springs, some 14" panasports

Prior to touching a single thing and not even taking off the front plate yet

Buttttt, within a week I found a heated hardtop locally for 850 so I immediately snatched that up

Also check that sweet quarter panel damage

Then I was super convinced i'd just vinyl wrap it. A year or so later I'd definitely regret this and I'd never finish it. I was stupid

Then I scored some 15x7 +38 Panasports, but the finish was terrible on them.

All stripped down and ready to paint

Direzza star specs mounted, and looking much better

RB springs settled super weird, so weird rake for a while

Then the rollbar finally made it

BBFW bar

Swapped the largest antenna in the world

With a smaller one. The irony here of never fixing the body damage lol

Parked here with the E30 parts car I acquired during this time. I had an E30 Touring project going at the same time so the Miata never got much love.

Look good together tho

Now HERE Is where I bought the coilovers and installed them. MUCH MUCH better. Holy shitballs the ride is stiff but it's pretty fun

Then some mirrors, just cause

OK - then I got divorced. Not a lot of miata happened in here, instead I bought a GT500 and here are all the cars parked together.

Ok, initial novel done - just wanting to start sharing more and then i'll get into the stupid lifted miata, the paint project and the wheel build. Then hoping to start the process of my current motor build.

Not often. Maybe once a year. I'm not much one to hang around car shows.

Well c'mon and hang sometime. I've only been down once or twice this year in the miata, but it's pretty fun on the non-huge turnout weekends.

I decided to go ahead and skip all the lifted miata phase - it was really good fun but not that interesting anymore.

Ok so here's the very end of 2018 - choosing a basic color and trying to sand this thing down from the massive clear failure

I also finally got all the parts I needed to assemble the LM5T's. I started with just the faces and slow collected all the stuff I needed. Barely saved any money, but I learned a lot so it netted out ok

Initial test fits - measured to 16x9.5 and the offset I had calculated to be +8, but I don't actually know what it ended up being. Given other setups I see it's probably in the +15-20 range I figure.

Test taping up the carbon miata flares that I didn't end up really needing. The wheels fit close enough without and wouldn't have filled the flares at all so no sense in using

Then in March/April I started painting. Christ-almighty what a lot of work it was and really turned out mediocre TBH. I thinned rustoleum enamel and did one of the 'famous' roll-on paint jobs. It took a **** load of time and maybe it would turn out better if I did one again totally from scratch. Lots of learning along the way.
