80ms shift time, and capable of handling atleast 700nm on the stock clutches, 900+ with upgraded clutches. if this works. i bet the transmission will outlive any other part in my drivetrain

So excited for this. I’m thinking this might make its way behind a turbo FE3 in my car after you sort out the control box. You think this will handle a 24hr race?

even With a cooler we struggle to keep them cool enough to stay out of limp mode for more than 1-2 hours

mine will be used mostly for street use, with some trackday use with sessions around 15-20 minutes so i hope i will be ok with a decent oil cooler for the gearbox.

a really hot summer day here is 30c.. or just under 90F. tuned BMW M4's under and m4 gts has no problems in our conditions and those cars are 500kg heavier.

custom electronics to control it. and yes, it will have flappy paddles

Got the driveshaft measured today, it will be made by a frient of mine. same guy that made Shifti's flex steel custom gun drilled driveshafts in another build thread
next up after that is making a drive from the engine to the transmission

Those axles
I have been talking to some of the guys at the track about making some, should be a sweet driveshaft.

As far as i understand, Shifti's axles are not your run of the mill standard parts. the type of steel needs to be just right, and the hardening process is special. but they have proven to be extremely reliable. pretty much everything else in the driveline breaks before those

That's fecking cool, I often day dreamed about retrofitting a DCT box to my RX7 when I had that.

Where you say you'll retain a clutch pedal, whats the thinking behind that?

Is that simply because you have no other mechanism to control pull away as you wont be able to use the OEM BMW control boxes or simply because you want to be able to launch/clutch kick like a manual?

a litte bit of both. it will be like driving a conventional sequential race gearbox, only that this is a DCT. with no auto function unless i program that into my ecu. so clutch to pull away, possible to clutchkick the car for fun and hooning around and clutchless up&down. will only use the clutches internal in the gearbox.

Why clutch to pull away?

Got my driveshaft today. Made for me by the same friend that made Shifti's flex steel driveshafts.

Dana spicer heavy duty 1310series Ujoints and 3" thin wall tube.
Rated for 700+nm in this application.

Custom adapter made for the DCT gearbox.

Pictures show the parts test fitted in shifti's miata since mine still is in use

Compared to a supermiata mx5 shaft

i dont know how to launch a car properly, but had the chance today to do some testing on a cold unprepped surface..
Raced a couple of other miatas, a tuned (500whp/700nm) m3, my friends 650+ whp chevy nova ls1 turbo, a 2018 bmw M5 ++ really fun, but its frustrating to see how efficient the modern cars are when going through the gears That will soon change

200whp vs 400whp miata..

Tuned M3 vs 400whp miata

and VS the chevy nova ls1 turbo.

runs are from 0-135mph roughly
