Its a 1992, 1.6L with a whole long line of mods. im sure ill write up a detailed list. The car is being built for many purposes. highway runs/ occasional time attack/ drag racing and taking to car shows. Ive owned the car since 12/15/10. Hope yall enjoy!

may I ask why you stuck with the 1.6?

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 08:30 PM

already had it. Don't see too many 1.6 builds so just decided to go a different route.

turbofan 07-14-2014 08:46 PM

I thought you were totally handicapped until I saw this:

https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...16482597_o.jpg

Props for it and what you're doing. 1.6 is kinda fail but whatever it's your thing and by the looks of it, you're doing it well.

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 08:49 PM

thanks man!

supercooper 07-14-2014 08:52 PM

Matt_V2_Man!!!! Its about time you got on here... lol
Welcome! Been following you on instagram for a while now. You are making pretty good progress

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 08:55 PM

haha ive been hesitant about coming here with a useless 1.6 lol. But I understand theres a ton of information on here that would be usefull to my build and knowledge!

Thanks though!

Doppelgänger 07-14-2014 09:02 PM

Benn watching your progress on FB....and being jelly of having the time lol. Kepp up the good work.

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 09:15 PM

hey buddy!! hopefully I can come up in the spring to IA and hangout with you again!

Not quite useless... just not optimal. lol
But, Being that you worked with what you had, you definitely did it properly.

Just.... considering the fact that you can get a 1.8 for sub-$500, and all the parts you have would have cost the same across the board for the 1.8, For the little bit extra, and a few extra hours (literally a few) you could have had a bit more room to play, and an "optimal" setup.
( NOT a diss in any way, just explaining the thought process of 1.8>1.6 in a build as extreme as yours)

But, you did what you did the right way, and made the best out of what you had, so for that you get lots of props

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 09:23 PM

Yeah It was one of those....well I already have it... already have the itb manifold... already wanted to go full custom turbo kit so I just owell ill stick with it. lol

Full_Tilt_Boogie 07-14-2014 09:54 PM

Is it fast?

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 09:56 PM

not at all. sleeps on jack stands and still has the mock up motor in it.

Full_Tilt_Boogie 07-14-2014 10:02 PM

Do you have a cat?

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 10:03 PM

whats that?

18psi 07-14-2014 10:11 PM

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 10:12 PM

nope. Deffinatley not.

Mr. Mattman 07-14-2014 10:54 PM

Yep sure is!

Monk 07-14-2014 11:15 PM

HAHA! You made me think long and hard about chalkboard paint buddy. I was wondering when you'd show up here. Put you location in your profile please.

Tw34k 07-14-2014 11:47 PM

Nice civic.

soviet 07-15-2014 12:05 AM

Like I said, I like the oil cooler mounting. What wheels did you get?
:pitlab:

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 06:37 AM

Thanks! The oil cooler was deffinatley an interesting idea that actually worked. New wheels coming are ccw D11L 15x9 -10
1.25" ptr for my front bbk clearance.

Seefo 07-15-2014 06:52 AM

This guy. Probably the only guy to get banned from CR.

Clean engine bay. How are you running the brake lines with the master? Is that one port out and you split it 4 ways?

I take it you changed your pedal ratio to make up for the lack of booster?

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 06:56 AM

Lol yeah I was banned for a few months lol.

Brakes were (redoing lines with lineloc now)

Wilwood 7/8 bore master
Ran to a 1 to 2 splitter
Then gm proportion valve with adjustable rear bias

Both fronts are individial and for rear I reused the factory line.

Never touched the pedal assy. I still had great pedal feel and braking was very strong

supercooper 07-15-2014 08:58 AM

How long ago was your car black?

Leafy 07-15-2014 09:07 AM

So this is the car we've been making fun of for the last few months.

Schuyler 07-15-2014 09:25 AM

I wish my engine bay was that clean :(

Braineack 07-15-2014 11:43 AM

Thanks for joining, Mr. Mattman!

ahawks9er 07-15-2014 12:11 PM

Clean build. Way to be a lil different (ITBs etc.) Enjoy the 1.6 flamez!

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 12:20 PM

I painted the car teal in the winter of 2011. Yep this is the guy

What BBK do you have? I want wheels to clear my 11.75" brakes :fael:

To be honest I really wanted to hate your car at first, but your engine bay makes my nether regions tingle.
It doesn't look like you have much clearance here:
Nevermind, optical illusion.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1405460346

Braineack 07-15-2014 01:23 PM

he ahs like 2" of clearance, why would he cut that?

Monk 07-15-2014 01:47 PM

I guess my eyes tricked me. It looked like the housing was touching, but I see now that it is not.

Savington 07-15-2014 02:13 PM

Several function fails, but god damn that engine bay is clean.

Check my location again.... lol. I'm far from being able to make a quick trip to IA anymore

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 02:36 PM

Yeah I can still clock the compressor hoslusing a little bit. But the photo is decieving I have a bunch of room.. I have the wilwood 4pot 11" setup going on the front.

And damn you live far now lol

Im curious as to what. Not arguing but I like constructive criticism.

concealer404 07-15-2014 02:51 PM

Matt, you're supposed to just immediately fly into a butthurt rage when questioned. You're doing it wrong.

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 02:52 PM

Lol. Thats not me man. Whats there to be butt hurt about? I build the car for my personal satisfaction.

concealer404 07-15-2014 02:54 PM

You're being too rational. Stop it.

I think it's a cool car regardless, so carry on with your bad self. :)

wilwood 11" needs special things done to the wheel? well, there goes my hope of fitting CCW over 11.75" brakes...

As for functional fails... 1.6, using flares for wheel/tires that fit under stock fenders, etc. but its a show car so whatever

Although I think if you stretched the tires, mt would go into rage mode.

Leafy 07-15-2014 03:06 PM

I thought all flavors of 11" brakes fit over practically all 15" miata wheels and the 949 and trackspeed 11.75" ones also fit under almost all wheels.

concealer404 07-15-2014 03:09 PM

Enkei RPF1.

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 04:30 PM

My wheels would deffinatley not fit under stock body without camber. But I have the wheels so the calipers clear the faces. Not because the rotor will hit the inner barrel

Savington 07-15-2014 04:38 PM

The biggest one is chopping out the upper portion of the firewall. That's a high pressure zone, so all it's doing is dumping air into the back of the engine bay, which stalls what little flow you have through the radiator. A hood vent will help, but not having the engine bay sealed at the back pretty much cripples you. I also think the ITB runners aren't long enough, and there's no functional need for the flares with a 205mm tire on 9" wheels. It's clearly not a track car, though, so for what you're doing those aren't big issues.

Good luck tuning the car. ITBs + turbo = not fun. I don't envy you :giggle:

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 04:39 PM

I guess you havent seen my hood then..I guess we shall see when it comes time to tune it.

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 04:43 PM

Yeah I guess I forgot to post a better exerior pic. But I have a chaser aero gt300 hood

Mr. Mattman 07-15-2014 04:44 PM

And I had 225/45 rs3s all around.

Schuyler 07-15-2014 04:47 PM

Holy triple-post batman!

supercooper 07-15-2014 04:50 PM

Ive heard that ITB + Turbo setups are a pain to tune too.... but once they are, they can be some serious beasts. That came from honda guys though.... because honda.... lol

miata2fast 07-15-2014 04:57 PM

At first, I thought that the engine bay smoothing was a little over done. But that turbo and intake fills out the bay beautifully. Looks awesome.

supercooper 07-15-2014 05:03 PM

My engine bay is clean.... but its clean as in CLEAN... as in NOT dirty... His is Clean, as in, Barren... AND not dirty... Ive never liked Tucked bays and stuff until i saw his. It looks sic. And you are definitely right, the turbo and all supporting goodies do fill up the space nicely.

cyotani 07-15-2014 05:21 PM

That front bumper allows for some nice fresh air to that oil cooler duct. Nice idea. Any better pics of the manifold?
