may I ask why you stuck with the 1.6? |
already had it. Don't see too many 1.6 builds so just decided to go a different route.
I thought you were totally handicapped until I saw this:
https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...16482597_o.jpg Props for it and what you're doing. 1.6 is kinda fail but whatever it's your thing and by the looks of it, you're doing it well. |
thanks man!
Matt_V2_Man!!!! Its about time you got on here... lol
Welcome! Been following you on instagram for a while now. You are making pretty good progress |
haha ive been hesitant about coming here with a useless 1.6 lol. But I understand theres a ton of information on here that would be usefull to my build and knowledge!
Thanks though! |
Benn watching your progress on FB....and being jelly of having the time lol. Kepp up the good work.
hey buddy!! hopefully I can come up in the spring to IA and hangout with you again!

Thanks though! But, Being that you worked with what you had, you definitely did it properly. Just.... considering the fact that you can get a 1.8 for sub-$500, and all the parts you have would have cost the same across the board for the 1.8, For the little bit extra, and a few extra hours (literally a few) you could have had a bit more room to play, and an "optimal" setup. ( NOT a diss in any way, just explaining the thought process of 1.8>1.6 in a build as extreme as yours) But, you did what you did the right way, and made the best out of what you had, so for that you get lots of props |
Yeah It was one of those....well I already have it... already have the itb manifold... already wanted to go full custom turbo kit so I just owell ill stick with it. lol
Is it fast?
not at all. sleeps on jack stands and still has the mock up motor in it.
Do you have a cat?
whats that?
a pussy
nope. Deffinatley not.

Wait a sec. I recognize that white engine bay. Is this you?
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1405391546 |
Yep sure is!
HAHA! You made me think long and hard about chalkboard paint buddy. I was wondering when you'd show up here. Put you location in your profile please.
Nice civic.
Like I said, I like the oil cooler mounting. What wheels did you get?
:pitlab: |
Thanks! The oil cooler was deffinatley an interesting idea that actually worked. New wheels coming are ccw D11L 15x9 -10
1.25" ptr for my front bbk clearance. |
This guy. Probably the only guy to get banned from CR.
Clean engine bay. How are you running the brake lines with the master? Is that one port out and you split it 4 ways? I take it you changed your pedal ratio to make up for the lack of booster? |
Lol yeah I was banned for a few months lol.
Brakes were (redoing lines with lineloc now) Wilwood 7/8 bore master Ran to a 1 to 2 splitter Then gm proportion valve with adjustable rear bias Both fronts are individial and for rear I reused the factory line. Never touched the pedal assy. I still had great pedal feel and braking was very strong |
How long ago was your car black?
So this is the car we've been making fun of for the last few months.
I wish my engine bay was that clean :(
Thanks for joining, Mr. Mattman!
Clean build. Way to be a lil different (ITBs etc.) Enjoy the 1.6 flamez!
I painted the car teal in the winter of 2011. Yep this is the guy

To be honest I really wanted to hate your car at first, but your engine bay makes my nether regions tingle.
Nevermind, optical illusion. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1405460346 |
he ahs like 2" of clearance, why would he cut that?
I guess my eyes tricked me. It looked like the housing was touching, but I see now that it is not.
Several function fails, but god damn that engine bay is clean.

Yeah I can still clock the compressor hoslusing a little bit. But the photo is decieving I have a bunch of room.. I have the wilwood 4pot 11" setup going on the front.
And damn you live far now lol |

Matt, you're supposed to just immediately fly into a butthurt rage when questioned. You're doing it wrong.
Lol. Thats not me man. Whats there to be butt hurt about? I build the car for my personal satisfaction.
You're being too rational. Stop it.
I think it's a cool car regardless, so carry on with your bad self. :) |

And damn you live far now lol As for functional fails... 1.6, using flares for wheel/tires that fit under stock fenders, etc. but its a show car so whatever Although I think if you stretched the tires, mt would go into rage mode. |
I thought all flavors of 11" brakes fit over practically all 15" miata wheels and the 949 and trackspeed 11.75" ones also fit under almost all wheels.
Enkei RPF1.
My wheels would deffinatley not fit under stock body without camber. But I have the wheels so the calipers clear the faces. Not because the rotor will hit the inner barrel

Good luck tuning the car. ITBs + turbo = not fun. I don't envy you :giggle: |
I guess you havent seen my hood then..I guess we shall see when it comes time to tune it.
Yeah I guess I forgot to post a better exerior pic. But I have a chaser aero gt300 hood
And I had 225/45 rs3s all around.
Holy triple-post batman!
Ive heard that ITB + Turbo setups are a pain to tune too.... but once they are, they can be some serious beasts. That came from honda guys though.... because honda.... lol
At first, I thought that the engine bay smoothing was a little over done. But that turbo and intake fills out the bay beautifully. Looks awesome.
My engine bay is clean.... but its clean as in CLEAN... as in NOT dirty... His is Clean, as in, Barren... AND not dirty... Ive never liked Tucked bays and stuff until i saw his. It looks sic. And you are definitely right, the turbo and all supporting goodies do fill up the space nicely.
That front bumper allows for some nice fresh air to that oil cooler duct. Nice idea. Any better pics of the manifold?
