I honestly believe that something from mild steel that will allow some movement for expansion/contraction of heat, but control vibration and jarring is the way to go. Just from looking at the photos, it looks like you could runs something from the turbine exit, flange or even the downpipe if you go with a short sched40 section at the exit.

Got the 245 toyos mounted and they look pretty good a 8" wheel. Won't have anymore progress till I get my internals in so I can head off to the machine shop

Tires in this size are the only reason I'm sticking with 16s

I'm interested in seeing how the XTD 6 puck hold's up that is what I want to go with. CHEAP.

When I bought the clutch I was only planning on running a stock rebuilt motor. Then got to thinking my rods were gonna eat it. Then that I might get ansty and blow another piston so I got those too. Now I'm aiming for around 320whp after cams and intake mani so it's going to iffy on the clutch

well keep us posted... it is so cheap it is worth a shot.

No actual progress yet. Still waiting on pistons to come it before I go to the machine shop. Started getting mad at myself for letting the car sit under a tree for a few months considering I just painted her not even a year ago so I pushed the car across the yard and gave it a much needed bath

Haha it won't be sitting like that for much longer. Got my pistons in the mail yesterday and I'm heading to the machine shop this afternoon to get the head assembled and block bored. Should be able to pick it up tuesday and start putting it together wednesday and thursday night. Still need to pick up the haltech and figure out a base tune so I don't blow up a brand new engine

johnmatt 03-19-2010 06:23 PM

FML turns out the valves and springs that I ordered drunk one night were for a 1.8 and they have already been opened so I can't return them to 949. I'm selling the set for $600 shipped and these are the high flow valves as well. God I feel like an idiot

wayne_curr 03-20-2010 04:41 PM

Can't 1.8 valves just be shortened a bit and fit a 1.6?

Yea I'll give you my tires when you give me that 30R of yours

SDAROZA 04-05-2010 06:41 PM

Seems fair, tires for 30 rupees I can arrange this.

FML even more. Supertech screwed up somehow and when I though I was going to have my valves and springs yesterday turns out they gave the wrong address so now they are getting shipped back to Cali. I told Martin at Supertech what happened and he seemed alittle confused. First he tried to tell me I gave the wrong address and showed him the email where I gave him the correct address and the invoice where it showed my address. I told him it's only fair for me to get my shit overnighted when they recieve them in the mail

Well I've pretty much got all my parts except for a few small things but I figured I'd give an update.
Started looking at the cylinder head again and realized I wasn't happy with the port work so I did it all over again

Finally after all my trouble with my valves and getting back and forth to the machine shop from the boonys out here I painted my engine and assembled the shortblock today. Gonna do some more later tonite or maybe tomorrow. Hopefully I can have it in the car by this weekend.

Learned from a friends mistake and went ahead and rebuilt my lifters and am keeping them in oil tell I'm ready to bolt the head on.

And yes I really did do all the assembly on those sawhorses today. Torqueing was a bit of a pain that way but I got it to work

Ya for engine building. Its been my world for the last couple of weeks as well. Cool engine color.

johnmatt 05-18-2010 06:53 PM

Yea it's not too bad. The damn bottom rings were trying to kick my ass though. Was also tricky cause I've got a badly sprained ankle and knee but seeing the parts sitting around was killing me

johnmatt 05-18-2010 06:54 PM

Oh yea and the color is some high heat copper I got from Lowes for painting grilles and such
