While we're rebuilding the motor, we're cleaning up the ports. Work in progress here. Bowl blend, deshroud, +2 and +2.5 valves. Needed new valve seats to fit the valves. This in addition to the BC stage 2 cams that were in it. Fingers crossed it all works the way its supposed to. I'm thinking we might hit 350whp. We'll see!
Damn! Good stuff. You guys think the NC2 bottom end is good for 350whp then with the supercharger's powerband? I was under the impression they were happy up until the low-300s.
I've heard of the diamond washers slipping from the shock loads of a dogbox but that's the only time I can remember it. Were you using the ARP crank bolt? I remember reading some stuff about the torque spec and clamp load on it a few years ago that made me not trust it and prefer the stock non-reusable TTY bolts.

Using OEM crank bolt this time and before. Washers slipped with Rorex loads at around 7800rpm, north of 300whp. Not sure the total load there but guessing 20-30whp. Cams, crank keyed now. Fingers crossed.

Aftermarket forged rods, pistons. OEM Forged crank. Stock NC2 rod let go at around 260bhp on ours but that was two engines ago.
Finally, we are where we had hoped to get to. This is around 15psi on CA pump gas. Only made a bit more on E85 because we basically reached MBT on gas. Gotta love the adiabatic efficiency of the Rotrex that offers such charge density and low IAT's.
Revs like a bike. Such fun. Round 5 MTTC at Laguna Seca this weekend.
Thanks to Bryan Spears at Fab9 for the live tuning work. I operate the dyno.
Looking good! This is honestly close to my dream "fun street car" setup - NC with a rotrex on xidas. I'm surprised you went with such a small blower though considering I've seen 300+ on a 1.6 on E85 with the same c30-94. I feel like silly numbers are on the horizon with a C38somthin and E85 if MBT was nearly reached on pump.
I know y'all know your stuff though .
Really glad to see this car still being built. I haven't been working on cars much myself recently but I still pop in to check on this one every once and a while

Always more power to be found with more time/$$ but we're really happy with it just like this. This build was never about max power, but something fun and durable. It is a hoot!
Final question, did you guys stay with SD for tuning strategy? The area where the MAF would be seems to be hidden under the rotrex in the pic. I’ve read the factory MAF needs to be swapped for anything above 300ish horsepower.

I believe Bryan at Fab9 set it up SD but you would have to ask him. I didn't tune it although I had a bit of input here and there as a tuner myself. I know the original tuner was trying to build a map with a MAF/SD crossover, then a blend. That other tuner never got it right so I reached out to Bryan and he got it. Driveability, while not perfect, is very good. It revs so quick in the lower gears that it can be tricky to drive slow.
We are having overeating issues that we haven't been able to diagnose. Started a new thread. If you have input please reply in that thread. Easier place for the community to find the information later on.

I don't see a MAF in there unless you've put it in the hot side (not a great idea) or it is located in the hidden bumper section. In any case, SD is probably a better idea for a boosted car. I would hate trying to chase boost leaks with a rotrex.
