PS: make sure that tune is SPOT ON dude. That's a lot of stress you're putting the stock block through. A little mistake here or there and its toast

Hell no it wasnt worth it lol. Wasted thousands only to come back to an older stock block :( Tunes really really good. Right now the map is as safe as can be to make this power.

I hope it last for you. If it were me, I would step it back and play it safe. That's why I plan on tuning mine to 450, even though the set up can make 600.

Exactly. The way i see it, i blew a built motor and took care of that one well enough. I played it safe and never really got the chance ro enjoy it. I just wanna be happy for even a little bit. I can always get another stock bottom end cheap.

I kinda agree though: nothing sucks more than babying an overbuilt setup and not having any fun and still blowing up.

Tell me if I got it right. You basically have the set up you want. Turbo, intake, exhaust, injectors ect ect ect. Right?

Then you should be good. As you said, if the engine blows you can always pick up another stocker cheap and just swap it in. Not a bad plan. If it were me I would be setting aside the funds, or collecting the parts to build another forged engine.

What took out the built engine? Was it bad tune, part failure, or did you just beat it till it died??

If I were to build a street only motor, it would have M-tuned rods, OEM bearings and new OEM pistons with moly rings and ceramic coated tops. No reason to go forged. It's all in the tune.

That's what I did. It was a nice build. Not insanely expensive, but expensive enough. If I had to do it all over again, I would have swapped the block for a stock donor, strapped the '99 head on it, and been done with it. If it blew, get another donor.

Ya, even my current build is fairly inexpensive with Supertech pistons. And they will hold the power I need with the rods and Maruha bearings. That and the ported head (it's a 1.6) it should produce good numbers. I can't justify spending more than I have on it....

We are on the same page dude. I am saving the funds for another built motor. Funny thing is though, its like, with the built motor, you have more to loose if it blows. Stock you dont. Plus your relying on someones mechanical ability to put an engine together thats not from the factory so the build will be as good as the builder and the tune as well.

Yes and no. For the power i eventually want (400 rwhp capable) Ill need the pistons. Im over 300 now..
