Megasquirt doesn't send things, it's not a company.

LittleCarBigFun 04-21-2018 05:14 PM

Okay, well, wherever Lars got my MSPNP Pro from

18psi 04-21-2018 05:59 PM

DIYautotune.

LittleCarBigFun 04-30-2018 01:27 PM

Well the only update I have is that Mia is going in for tuning tomorrow and will hopefully make good numbers. In the mean time here's my cathttps://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...12e3a5df84.jpgI believe he's 15 now

sonofthehill 04-30-2018 07:57 PM

He is pretty! And looking great for 15.

LittleCarBigFun 04-30-2018 08:25 PM

Everyone who sees him says the same thing haha. He's also an incredibly well behaved cat too. As far as cats go at least

LittleCarBigFun 05-08-2018 08:47 PM

Gents, I have a problem. Everything is hooked up and the car will now crank but not turn over. Fuel is getting through the injectors but there's no spark whatsoever. My ICM was flopping around when I bought the car and I didn't think much of it since I had no idea what it was. I ordered a new one so hopefully it'll work. (Base map is loaded on)

Does anyone else have any idea what could be wrong? Could it also be my coil pack?

Also can someone point me to a thread or something on how to wire up a DIY Autotune EBC to PNP Pro? Thanks!

LittleCarBigFun 05-09-2018 05:21 PM

I continue to amaze myself at how stupid or inattentive I can be. The problem was an ignition immobilizer that first owner installed as an anti theft device. Flipped it and she fired up...sorta. She bucked and protested and I adjusted the iscv and she does fine. However my Innovate MTX-L is reading an error code E8. Basically I read that means it kaput. How lovely...any help on this one?

18psi 05-09-2018 05:22 PM

grats on getting it running.
replace it with a wideband that doesn't suck would be my advice.

That, or replace sensor, or try wearing a different color shirt.

18psi 05-09-2018 05:32 PM

I personally use aem on all my cars. You'll get tons of opinions on this, but I've yet to have one fail on me, and they don't have an insane warmup delay

LittleCarBigFun 05-09-2018 05:34 PM

Ok, I see the uego is the go to for many on here.

LittleCarBigFun 05-09-2018 08:51 PM

I feel completely defeated. I try my hand at tuning only to find out I got TunerStudio Lite, not the full version, same with data logger. I'm just about at the end of my rope now.

18psi 05-10-2018 12:25 AM

if you paid for it, then you got the full version. if you didn't, then yes

I got the ecu from Lars, so I'd assume I paid for it

18psi 05-10-2018 02:14 AM

yep, which means they will give you the paid version if you ask

LittleCarBigFun 05-10-2018 02:15 AM

You just made me a happy man. Thank you very much!

shuiend 05-10-2018 07:05 AM

Somewhere in the documentation for the MSPNP-Pro is a link to put in your serial number and get your free copy of TS.

Alright, is that in the usb drive that came with it?

LittleCarBigFun 05-10-2018 08:45 PM

Got my full versions of both tunerstudio and megalogger. However I'm having very bad idling issues, any ideas?

18psi 05-10-2018 09:10 PM

Yeah. Tune the car

Okay, I've got an annoying problem. Car idles fine now, however, whenever any throttle input is applied she dies immediately. Almost seems like she runs way too rich because I can smell fuel whenever that happens. I should also say that the tps isn't screwed on, nor is it even being picked up by the ecu. Can someone help?

Braineack 05-14-2018 01:30 PM

screw in the TPS and then connect it to the ECU so your accel enrichments are so royally fucked...

18psi 05-14-2018 01:47 PM

My car needs parts reattached and then needs to be tuned......any ideas?

LittleCarBigFun 05-14-2018 04:10 PM

Getting white smoke coming out of the exhaust...

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 08:47 AM

Okay, so car idles fine, however she won't rev past 2k and will protest every second of doing so. I'm trying to attach my data log of doing this but can't find where to attach it. Help?

concealer404 05-15-2018 08:53 AM

Click the paperclip.

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 08:57 AM

1 Attachment(s)
Okay, file should be attached. Thanks! Could the timing be off at all? Also I bolted down my tps and I'm still getting no response through the ecu, nor is the ecu reading the correct afr. Saying 7.8 at idle and when the car is off.

concealer404 05-15-2018 08:59 AM

You need to make your TPS work. Then make your wideband work. Then tune your car.

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 09:02 AM

That's my biggest problem is that I don't know how to tune. I don't know what to look for in any of the graphs or tables. I also don't know how to get my tps or my wideband to connect. I've tried to configure the ecu to the gauge but it does nothing.

concealer404 05-15-2018 09:05 AM

Ok, so the car won't rev past 2k, but your log shows it sitting at 3600 the whole time. Was this idling? Were you driving?

You're in way over your head. Step away from the car for a couple weeks, and don't touch it until you've spent 2 weeks reading.

Gotcha, one my local tuners does Megasquirt so I'm getting him to give me a hand in this stuff. I'll also give the car to him for the month of June since I'll be out of state. Hopefully he'll be able to get her running good. Thanks for the help

I'd fix the mechanical issues you have before you hand it off to him. Most tuners like tuning, not wrenching.

He run's his own shop and does both. He actually does damn good work. And I'm also not sure of any mechanical issues I have at the moment.

Well your TPS and Wideband don't work. And you didn't answer if the car was idling at 3600 or not, so that might be a problem. I'm not convinced i love the kpa values in that log at a steady 3600rpm either.

Basically what i'm saying is that this car is very far from being ready to be tuned.

My bad, no the car doesn't idle at 3600 it idles at 900-1k. And I'm still not sure why either of the afr works. The gauge was calibrated and is wired up correctly. And I'll need to get a volt meter to test the tps

concealer404 05-15-2018 09:50 AM

Ok so.... what were you doing during the log? I'm trying to paint a picture here so the log makes sense. You said it doesn't rev over 2k, then we have an 11 second long log of it holding 3600. Was this driving? Sitting in your driveway? What is the log of?

Help us help you.

It was a combination of driving and idling. The higher rpm area is from driving

concealer404 05-15-2018 12:18 PM

Oh. That's a huge log. Gross.

Anyways, logging or tuning at this stage won't get you anywhere. Car has to work first.

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 12:36 PM

Gotcha, I'm still not sure how to get my car "working" if I don't tune it.

concealer404 05-15-2018 12:41 PM

You have to fix the broken things. Then you tune it. You can't tune with broken things. You have broken things. Make them not broken. Then tune.

Trying super hard to be patient and helpful here.

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 12:42 PM

I understand, sorry. I'm still trying to figure out what's broken and what isn't. My tps should work fine since Lars included it brand new with the kit.

"Should" and "does" are not always the same.

It might be working. Your ecu sure doesn't see it though. It needs to see it. Tuning will not fix it.

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 12:49 PM

Ok, I still have the old (not) tps, would it be better to plug that back in and run it on MAP?

concealer404 05-15-2018 12:50 PM

I don't know what that means. Your car is running on speed density already as far as i can tell.

Do whatever you need to do to make the ecu see the TPS.

hi_im_sean 05-15-2018 12:51 PM

JFC.

YOU NEED TO GET THE "NEW" VTPS INSTALLED AND WORKING BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont even take a shit until that bitch is installed and working.

concealer404 05-15-2018 12:53 PM

Oh, this is a dumpster fire 1.6? That's right, i remember this from the Fuzzy Feel Reddit Bitchfest.

Did you like... change the wiring for the VTPS? Or did you just plug it in and expect it to work?

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 12:54 PM

I was honestly expecting it be plug and play. What do I need to wire for it to work?

Bro, Lars sent it with his kit, therefor it should just work... or something

Get your search on. Have to swap two wires. I did it the other day on my friend's car but it took all of 30 seconds to research and 2 minutes to do it, so i didn't file that away in "things Ben needs to remember for future reference." I have faith that you can find it easily.

hi_im_sean 05-15-2018 01:01 PM

Tim you have a pnp. Therefor you will need to either:
A. depin the tps connector and swap 2 wires (search for what 2 youll need)
B. depin the ecu header and swap 2 wires (search for the 2 youll need)

LittleCarBigFun 05-15-2018 01:03 PM

Yep, just googled and found it. It's the red and black wires that need to be swapped around. Can they be pulled and re-inserted in the slots? And I also need a jumper for the prongs in the Megasquirt itself as well.

De-pin
verb
  1. To pull and re-inserted in [the] slots.

Get a little tiny screwdriver or paper clip, shove it in the connector (strategically) and itll release the pin, then you pull it out and reinsert as necessary. Google for a how to, its not uncommon.

Also on the topic of basic install steps for a 90-93 PNP Pro, make doubly sure you've pulled the ST SIGN fuse :)

TPS is fucked. I'm done with this, every single time I try something I fail. This project has been nothing failures and will continue to be so for me. $1k for the whole damn car with everything. Located in Crestview Florida. Maybe someone else can get it going and have fun with it
