In all its glory:
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2f9694d6f5.jpg In more interesting news, on the drive back, I saw one car transporter that had a 280z and an FB RX7 on it, and another that had an R32 Skyline. A high quality pic of the Z: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...20329c36ae.jpg |
.... What color is it?
|
Currently matte black. I think it was originally Sunburst Yellow. In the spots it has shed its outer matte black skin some ugly banana yellow is coming through.

black and yellow black and yellow black and yellowwwww

Originally it was silver. First owner painted it yellow. Badly. It faded within a few years. Kid who owned it before me is responsible for this monstrosity of a paint job.

Findings so far:
TPS wires were all in the wrong pin. It was wired up right for all the guides for other vTPS, but whichever one Lars elected to use had a different pinout, figured it out with the ohmeter and TPS works now. Overboost was set to 82kpa, fixed that. Wideband no worky. I am too fat for a Sparco Sprint. Should probably frequent less buffet style establishments. |
I've always wanted a build thread, so I am going to take this one over, at least for a bit.
Waiting on a new wideband sensor from Amazon, the Innovate did its best to cook the old one. Probably should have just picked up an AEM and sold this one off, but I'll gamble for a savings of ~$110. Currently trying to decide which of the following paths leads to enlightenment:

Depends: do you hate yourself and want to punish yourself?

Oblivion.

I think the history gives it character
|
Your mom and I's history give you character.
|
True. I never seen you take it that hard
|
Yea if I start combining this car and my turbo NA into one Greatest Hits Collection I'll probably start a new thread, but as long as I am trying to get this one operational I'll keep it here in "Tim's Turbo Part II: The Second Cumming," for posterity.

I like this guy.

My bad. This car has me on the defensive.

In other news: gaiz how importnt r des bolts https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...fa7d837ccc.jpg AKA does anyone have a spare PPF to trans bolt? (The big one, I've got a spare one that goes to the L-bracket. |
Wideband works. Was ready to button everything up and attempt a start, when I decided I should probably bend the heater pipe away from the downpipe a bit. That was successful, but the turbo-to-downpipe vband looked like this:
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1f56b767b8.jpg Not sure if it was due to the non-MKTurbo TacoTaco manifold sitting the turbo a hair further back or something, but the vband had been clamped down with the two flanges not actually being flush, and there was some soot from an exhaust leak. Despite my best efforts at bending the clamp back into shape, a combination of metal fatigue and bent up threads caused the bolt to snap at low torque. I couldn't find a 2.5" clamp anywhere so I grabbed one on Amazon. One step closer to just parting it out. |
|
I'm guessing you're in the market for some 1.6 turbo junk?
