Buttonwillow day with @_slowboi

PB of only 1:59.250 at the beginning of the day. Alignment was completely fucked by this point.

Roasted multiple tires due to the alignment, the passenger front was the worst offender. Put on tires that I stole from slowboi and gave out rides to friends for the rest of the day, for a total of 8 full sessions for the day.

Also haven't put in brake ducts yet, but I'm completely out of pad in 5 days. Have a 11.75" boxmount kit with the 1.25in rotors on order with ducting kit as well to accommodate for future power plans as well.

TPS also was acting up so I was experiencing poor throttle tip in. I was wide open but the signal is all over place. Was pretty convinced that it wasn't a power/ground issue since the crank sensor is on the same power/ground and I wasn't getting any sync issues. TPS trace from Haltech log below.

Will be participating in the revamped Miata Time Trial Championship [Link], and have the points for Hoosiers, as well as just needing tires for a couple more events in the next couple weeks. I picked up a set of takeoff R7 from some local SCCA guys to try driving with them because I've never driven a slick.

Unmounted 205 Hoosier vs mounted 225 RC1

Confirmation of absolutely fucked alignment

New socket tray that can hold all sockets, and be able to be thrown into my track box without having to bag everything

Used a dewalt box to consolidate some of my smaller loose items that I had in the box previously. Holds a fuse kit, P-Clamp kit, cotter pins, fuel pump, TPS, gloves, and some extra lug nuts.

That tote looks big enough to store some toe plates at the bottom...

Yeah I think I'm gonna put together a mobile alignment thing soon.

Swapped subframes from NA to NB, and put on the 11.75 boxmount kit, and 1" Wilwood MC.

Miata TT Championship at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway on 03/15/2025
My dash didn't record video for some reason, but here's the PB lap for 2nd place. I only got 2 sessions before my coil pack started to **** the bed and was misfiring.

New Denso coiilpacks for all 4 cylinders so I know when they were installed, as well as some spares.

Printed the fuse box mount out of ASA for better heat resistance in the warmer months.

New trans fluid, found some chunks that came out, but the thing still shifts fine so whatever

New Kumho V730 for just hot lapping when I don't care about absolute lap times

Another THill West day with OnGrid again.

Exhaust keeps shedding nuts. Ordered jet nuts to fix this.

Shocks were set way too stiff so I was jumping corners that usually aren't jumps

Got 3rd place in class against a C8 Corvette and Supra, both with aero. Only missed 2nd by 0.04s, kinda mad about that since I caught up to him even after giving him around 6-8 car lengths of room.

Second fastest lap of the day.

Was hard to get to the trunk to adjust the rear shocks so I got remote adjusters. I'll trim these to be closer to the parcel shelf eventually.

Was getting fuel starve on left handers that was solved by having a full tank of fuel, so I replaced the fuel sock with a new Denso unit.

Was wearing paint off the floor with my heels, so I put the racebred heelplate in that came with the car.

Yet another West day, this time with SpeedSF. Was honestly a lot more trafficy than I expected, and I was held up almost every lap except for one, where I PBd with a 1:22.55. I forgot my GoPro so you're just gonna have to trust me on this one.

Noticed my coolant hose was swollen, so I have another one on order to fix before Laguna in 2 weeks.

Had to dump it off track because someone basically stopped on the racing line on the exit of a corner, and I was going way too fast to be able to make it to his inside. Cracked the exhaust so I'll need to get that fixed.

I love all the updates, you've been busy I see. Killer roller shots, and generally the car is just so nice to look at, so thanks for sharing. And seriously impressive driving going on too.

Thanks! I keep forgetting to post here so i typically just dump several months of content all at once lmao. I will probably be taking a good long break during the summer to avoid the heat and to just ride my bike a little bit, but I have a couple of improvement projects I have planned.

Cracked exhast removed

Welded back up and reinstalled

Passenger side NPT brake fitting was leaking so I tightened it up another full turn and rebled the brakes.

Replaced the coolant hose but I don't like this shape so I'm going to get the Dayco 71519 hose instead.

Miata TT Championship Round 5: Laguna

Got P1 in Mod Class with a 1:40.867. Unfortunately my dash decided to not record data, and my gopro was only taking a photo when I pressed record, so I have nothing to prove it other than the fact that I have a transponder time.

I've somehow missed this build thread over the years. Sweet car and nice driving.

1) Bought my own trailer, a Jimglo tilt. Drove from SF Bay Area to Vegas and back in a day, do not recommend that at all. I was pretty much teleporting by the time I got home bc I had only slept like 2h in the 20h of driving I did. I see why there's limits for long haul truckers now.
Picture at a random stop on the way back.

2) Got a Reiter Engineering seat out of one of their Lamborghini GT3 cars, we'll see if I actually ever mount this. Its a bit narrow for my fat ~31" waist size, and the lean is ridiculous. Its def a cool seat tho.

3) Cool shot of the car at twibs415 new shop before any of the lifts were installed

4) Car got an initial dyno tune at Blacktrax Performance. Made decent power for a pretty mild build. We have plans for optimization in the future already.

Dyno Pull
Iphone video so not the greatest sound quality, but I tried to stand far enough away that the mic wasn't completely blown out. Sounds pretty decent to me.

5) Splitter roughly mounted, will tweak to get better fitment but I'm still waiting on materials.

6) New wing uprights bc the old ones were too tall and ugly. i still don't love this iteration, but it'll be good enough for the shakedown and I'll iterate on it later. I'll paint the end plates before the first track event also.

7) Car on trailer at the new house.

8) Heavier than expected at 2152 lbs with only a couple gallons of fuel in the tank and me not in the car. We got the corner weights to ~51.5% after a bunch of tweaking. I'll definitely be looking for ways to remove more weight out of the car, but it seems like there's not much low hanging fruit left.

9) Bumper.
dumb question - how do these quick releases work? id love to do it to mine.

Circling back on this. All the alignment issues I was dealing for a couple events in Jan - March with was actually the bushings slipping in the bores. In my inexperience, I didnt use bearing retaining compound in the install and the two provided set screws were not nearly enough to keep the bushings in place.
I reinstalled them with Permatex PTX 64000 and I haven't had an issue with the bearings again. I dont think the high temp aspect is necessary, but its there I guess.

The bumper is held on by 3x quick latches, the splitter mount in the post you quoted was a solid bolt on structure that has now been updated to a more flexible cable mounted solution.
