Can a turbo Miata be relatively reliable? Sure. But I'd still recommend having a backup method for getting to work...

I'm not trying to be a negative nancy. It just seems really risky unless you've a backup plan or backup money.
That's all I'm saying.

If things have changed over the past year and you're doing ok, then by all means, proceed.
Would just like to amplify the above. I've been in hell personally with finances for a while now (Slowly getting better). At the same time of driving an AIDSmobile, utilizing about 0psi on my MSM setup. Finally a crappy five-o injector gave out and that was the last straw. Now I'm fairly happy with my new to me scion fr-s, minus the new car payment. And the MSM is parked until further notice. With all the grief that thing has caused me, I've contemplated on selling it and coming out on top. Never again will I do a 'Project Daily Driver'.

I used to have a Chinese 2870 with a FM log manifold. I'm not sure but I may have posted my spool numbers in the spool data thread. It wasn't that bad. Between a turbo blanket and too retarded timing (long story) in boost I cooked two of them. Probably not their fault on either one. My GTX2867R .86 with Artech tubular manifold doesn't seem to spool any better, fwiw.

Be concerned about one missed shift aerating your block if you have stock rods and get a 6 speed. It's too easy to do.

I can't imagine how slow 129whp must feel at 7k elevation
Haha, snail fart. ewww slimey!

But yeah, 129whp was at sea level with the 3.9 rear end. I'm at 6k elevation (~18% less power) and have the 3.63 rear end (7%less power) it is slow even on a cold day, down hill lol.

I mean, if you hate the turbo, you can always just swap it out with a Garrett right? Bolt in replacement?

If his turbo has the same 5 bolt output flange sizing, sure.
There's like 3-4 different sizes not all the same, and the ebay vendors are too dumb to know the difference so they're all advertised as "direct replacement"

My godspeed 3076 2 or 3 of the bolts were off by a good amount, and I had to get their own 5 bolt dp flange.

Christmas gift to myself, washed, clay bar (hardtop hadnt been done yet) and shitty chemguys wax!

Discovered the other side of the car (that isnt faded and messed up from a botched repaint) is ALSO repainted. There millions of scratches under the clear and in the color.

I want a paint booth, and two full weeks to strip all the paint and moulding, level, prime, sand, respray errything... Anyways... The results of 4 hours of love...

Trash photo quality, but trust me, it looks pretty good for a turd.

Looks pretty good to me. Far better than my own chariot, to be sure.

Looks a lot better than mine! I need to save several dents and dings repaired, then it needs the full treatment.

I mean, your car makes mine look like a total beat down POS, which I guess it basically is anyway. Oh well.

Just an update, I'll be installing Morimoto XB type S (subaru) fog lights, courtesy of https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=559839 and zephyrusaurai (dealer pricing on theretrofitsource)

I ordered the laminx yellow film, but I'm not sure if that will improve the visibility for my eyes.

I'll post before and after photos, both of the front of the car, and the beam pattern.

Oh! I can't believe I forgot to post about what Turbofan and I (mostly he) did in January to my car!

We pulled the engine and trans, swapped to the replacement 6 speed, pulled the head, swapped headgaskets to the equal coolant distribution one, replaced mixing manifold o ring and gasket, valve cover gasket, and rear main seal.

We forgot a few things, like the nuts for the engine mount (lol) and have a few subfame bolts leftover... but... you know...

Got some goodies...

Yummy 650cc

Before the ford explorer nozzles
P/N for nozzles

After ford nozzles. It sprays a little high, makes sense since the miata window is not as tall as a 2000 ford explorer, but it should be ok when driving. If not, back go the mazda ones.

Hey that's pretty nice. And when you're doing highway speeds and above, the higher spray pattern will probably end up hitting the windshield perfectly.

Or you'll be misting the cars behind you, which can have its own uses. Especially for someone that might like to ... shall we say ... **** with others.

haha, I'm pretty sure it will be great at 50-60mph. The miata ones get shoved way down the windshield at speed, and they have more mass in the stream than little droplets. I think that's how it works lol.

Hey, I'm rooting for your doggy. My heart sank when I read that.
