So, I assume that you live close to the track? I don't know many people that "just" drop by a race track

Well the tubing finally came in last week and Jason got to work on the cage. It's tacked together right now, and he's still got more to add (The nascar-style door bars, another brace along the roof, harness bar, etc.) I was really impressed with the look of it -- he really has done amazing job so far.

The upper connection of the diagonal cross brace that holds up the main hoop is going to be shortened and moved more toward the middle of the hoop to keep it away from the drivers' helmet.

Also, the harness bars haven't been fitted yet (will go behind the seats to attach harnesses to)

Finally, all the major intersections will have corner gussets (shown below) to strengthen the joint.

I sat in the seat today so that he could measure where to install it permanently. It really hugs you tight and is fairly comfortable for what it's made out of. I have an identical seat for the passenger.

I'm really starting to get excited to get this thing out on the track! :spotman:

The door bars will
be similar to these:

Some people just do it right the first time... Should have kept the Mustang Engine and swapped it in . Impressive!

Okay, finally got some decent pics of the safety setup. These were taken in my garage so lighting wasn't optimal, but whatev.

Pic #2: Note that these aren't welds; it's caulk around neatly cut
holes in the rear deck so the bars can extend in to the trunk.
You will see where they are welded in Pic #3

Great fab work on that cage, I'm digging it as well. The pics really show your craftsmanship! Definitely doing it right the first time.

Ahh yes. I live about 12 minutes from Driveway Austin, 35 minutes from Harris Hill Road, 1.2 hours from Texas World Speedway, 2.5 hours from Texas Motorsport Ranch, and 3 hours from Texas Motor Speedway!
