I got the car weighed - 3374 with a full tank of gas, no driver. The corner weights include my scrawny ***.

That also includes a massive 6 channel PPI amp.

Took the Lexus out to Atlanta Motorsports Park on Sunday. Here's a video of me reeling in a C6 Z06.

The car is "too loud" for AMP and got banned! Luckily Balanced Performance was on site and they were able to make some temporary modifications that snuck me just under the limit.

I should've stayed another day to show you how it's done in that car - just sayin', I'd love to get behind that wheel

The track is hard on brakes too - my Hawk HPS that were about 30% at the beginning of the day were reduced to bare backing plates. The dust was so thick you could hardly see my baller snakeskin track wheels.

Here's what they look like clean:

In my experience, pads tend to wear more quickly the closer they get to the end of the pad material. That is, the first 50% of thickness lasts a lot longer than the last 50%.

That and the HPS isn't really a good enough pad for track usage, especially with 400+ whp.

Are you still running upgraded brakes? I ran some porter race pads on the front of my IS at Rd. Atl and they were great. Anyway- I still have those, and some stock rotors.

How are you rolling through emissions? which ecu are they plugging into?

True. I'll probably get a set of at least HP+ to have on hand for track use. The pads are the easy to change "toaster style", more like Wilwood calipers than the stock Miata calipers.

I'm running the FIGS big brake kit that uses the 12.7" front rotor from the Supra TT: http://shopfigs.com/v1/index.php?rou...&product_id=65 . The calipers and subsequently the pads are OEM sized.

Emissions is easy - just passed a few weeks ago. The GM ECU is wired into the stock OBDII port, and the ECU is running HP Tuners. I didn't even bother to put my cats in for the test - they never check. I wish it was this easy to get my Miata to pass...the tags are expired, and I haven't bothered to create an emissions friendly timing-retarded map since I upgraded from the Link to the Megasquirt.

Cool- well I have stock IS porterfield race pads for the front if you're interested.

Emissions- ah, ok that's what the RX LS swaps are doing, but I couldn't recall exactly.

I did exactly that- just tweaked the emissions area of my existing map and saved it as "emissions.map", then loaded it for the run. Reality is that the part you're tweaking doesn't really impact anything if the engine is healthy. The part you're really using the ecu for is boost and fortunately they're not testing your boosted zones for emissions.

Mustang GT wheels - their the right offset for the IS300, not terribly heavy, and dirt cheap. I bought this set from a local drifter who has a penchant for covering his wheels in contact paper - in this case, snakeskin. The paper doesn't hold up well to brake dust so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

On the streets I floss a set of ASA AR1s with Kumho Ecsta MXs.

Put a new set of HPS on last night, but am definitely interested in the Porterfields. I'll give you a shout. Thanks Rob!

No major updates, just more fun. Took the IS up to Road Atlanta last weekend and drove for a few sessions. The car did great, just definitely leaves a bit to be desired in grip (limited by 245 tires) and brakes.

Thanks man. As for weight difference, the 2JZ-GE is pretty close in weight to the LS3. The 2JZ has an iron block; the LS is aluminum. So...twice the displacement, twice the power, no weight penalty. Success!

The car handles great - it has KW Variant 3 coilovers and a bunch of custom suspension stuff from FIGS (spherical bushings, etc.).

My latest "mod": a Chicco Keyfit 30 Going to our local cars and coffee event in the morning and might bring my little guy.

Given that we have a newborn in the house there hasn't been much time to work on the Miata or the IS300, but that's alright - I'm just enjoying driving for now.

The fact I can put a car seat in this thing is great. Try that in other LSX equipped cars!
