Well I guess the motor should really come out of the exo so I can fix the steering rack mount anyways... I suppose you can have it now.

18psi 09-10-2014 12:08 AM

don't do anything. I'll be by shortly to steal your exo and his hotside parts

k thx bi

True, but he said he was busy and I said I was in no rush. Though I will admit I was not expecting 2 months past the original deadline. I will say that Abe is awesome and kept the lines of communication open the entire time. He's pretty good about answering emails and there was never any drama. Of course I have developed saintlike patience in recent months.

Haha, I don't have all the parts in place quite yet, so you are welcome to hold on to it for now. You are going to need it for that event in October!

Yeah, its a little broken at the moment.Attachment 238895
I have full confidence Gesso can fix it.

I would be an idiot for not going custom....

That downpipe is beautiful! ARTech?

Yep! ARTech ALLTHETHINGS! DP is 3" SS while I believe the manifold is mild. I'll be fabricating my own exhaust. Or rather, I'm going to commission Gesso to fabricate the exhaust while I bring him beer and marvel at his magical welding skillz. I'm trying to decide if its worth sending the manifold, turbine housing and downpipe to Swain for some of that fancy white coating. I've taken the leap to remove the AC from the car so I'm planning serious thermal mitigation as things go forward. I hate roasting alive inside my car.

I need to figure out a solution for studs on the T25 flange. I would have really Really REALLY preferred to go v-band entry & exit on the turbine housing, but it was just not happening. Unfortunately BorgWarner & FullRace are being tight lipped about when the v-band/v-band IWG turbine housings are actually going to be released, even after showing them off at SEMA this last year. So I said fuckit and ordered with a 4 bolt flange back in like May. If something drops before everything comes together for my car, I would consider buying one and contacting Abe about getting my manifold modded for v-band exit. Yes, I am that crazy.

From what I've been reading, and from looking at my turbine housing, there just does not appear to be space for TSE 10mm inconel stud + Stage8 goodness :sad2: I'll go poke around in a couple of the other guys EFR build threads and see what they did and copy what works. If it does not pan out, FM has an 8mm set that looks like it'll fit with minimal adjustment.

18psi 09-11-2014 12:14 PM

if you have the money and the time, I'd say swain it for sure. I remember seeing a thread where someone measured temps and there was a significant improvement.

gesso 09-11-2014 12:17 PM

If you're really thinking about swapping to vband, I would not swain it... Just sayin

EO2K 09-11-2014 12:29 PM

Yep, I've read that a few times as well. The header on at least one of the T25 cars was ceramic coated, and I was super impressed with its thermal retention abilities.

Heh, beat me to it.

The problem is that once its coated, it makes welding a real nightmare. The stuff does not just chip off with a wire wheel or a sanding disk. This would make converting to a v-band exit on the manifold incredibly impractical.

Pricing on the coating should be in the $300~$400 range from what I've gathered from others who have done it. I just need to sell the VVT head that is sitting in my garage and that should cover most of it. In fact, its probably time I did a sell-off of spare things. I've accumulated a lot of spare parts that would be better served in other peoples garages.

I'll let you know what it costs for swain to coat my mani/dp/7163exhaust housing  my parts should be done in the next few weeks after the fiasco of delays I have experienced.

Jeffbucc 09-11-2014 07:30 PM

God I love ARTech's work, it is art. Mine still looks pretty after all the abuse it has taken.

When I upgrade to an EFR turbo I'll modify the original ARTech downpipe for V-band, and possibly coat it, but it is one pricy bill to get it done.

In for turbo goodness updates!

Yeah, was sorry to hear about fiasco. I've been keeping an eye on your build thread for updates on that monster. Props for future info!

Lol, why u upgrade doe? Tater already ain't enough? ;)

Updates will be slow, as everything with me always is :bang:

I ordered a bunch of fittings for my fuel system the other day, so I should have pics shortly as that starts coming together. I also went back in this thread and realized I never finished my injector and ignition harnesses. I should probably do that one of these days :hahano:

Trackspeed, Flyin' Miata and Bat Inc orders placed today at lunch. I bet TSE gets my package here first. :bigtu:

I'm starting to realize exactly how much of a pain in the ass the fuel system stuff is going to be. As I think I mentioned before, I scavenged another NB main fuel line from one of Gessos projects and my plan is to run it as a return, and stick the regulator under the hood. Thanks to Hustler and Soviet, the underhood stuff is cake. Parts list is easy-peasy.

The tough part with the NB is the stuff at the tank.

I think Joe posted this to M.net some time ago, and I had to save it via screen cap of google images due his hosting service being out of bandwidth :bang:

So I'm thinking that the easiest way to do this is to use the existing fuel line as a return and the new fuel line as a feed to the underhood regulator. If I disconnect the "out" side from the fuel filter and connect that to the new fuel line, and then plug up that connector, I should be good to go.

Thats way too many words. Time for shitty pretty picture:

This will allow me super duper easy way to convert back to stock when the need arises.

The "right way" to do this is obviously to remove the stock FPR. Lord knows I have a hard time doing things right

18psi 09-17-2014 06:31 PM

why are you running a new line again? There are 2 lines toing to the engine bay on NB's

Tater is plenty, but I wouldn't mind a 6258 for spool at the cost of peak HP.

I just wish they had a V-band mounting flange for the manifold rather than T25.

Because I don't want to bastardize the vapor system, and I have another NB fuel line sitting in the garage

Plus I want a real, manifold referenced FPR under the hood.

I thought Tial made a V-band in/V-band out turbine housing for the disco? TiAL Sport - GT28 Stainless Housing

Of course then you would need to run an EWG, and you would need to get someone to modify the manifold for not only EWG but V-band as well, plus modify the downpipe for the EWG return unless you ran a dump...

The *only* thing I wished I had waited for with the EFR is the v-band/v-band IWG turbine housings for the 6x58 turbos. They showed them off at SEMA in January but nobody knows if/when they will actually be released. If I was going to wait for anything, I'd wait for that.
