I bought a stock M6 CTSV2, realized how much of an endless wormhole mods get to be, sold it, then bought an other M6 CTSV2 that was modded too the moon and back for less money than I sold my stock one for. WIN WIN. 6 speed manual and recaros in a sedan is hard to say no to. I was really really considering a white ATSV M6 sedan before I got my second CTS-V.. I just couldn't justify the price they were at even though I truly think the ATSV is a better car. Downpipe and a tune and they go from mild to wild.

500WHP with an off the shelf tune, drop-in air filters, and aftermarket bypass valves. That's under $1,200 out the door or under $1,000 if you wait for deals.
CTS-V2 and CTS-V3/ATS-V are built on different platforms. There are a ton of differences. Personally, I wouldn't get a CTS-V because it's a full-size car. I prefer smaller and lighter ATS-V, but it's a personal preference. I really wish ATS-V would come with an NA LT4 V8 option though, it's arguably a much better engine for this chassis.

From what I've read, it's not really dependent on the production year. The only way to find out is to pull the oil pan and check the rod caps. Smooth caps = forged (I think). I never got a chance to check mine before oil pan went on but I don't really care because I'm aiming at about 280 lbs torque when the turbo goes on. Non-forged rods are supposedly good to about 350.
Looks like I've got a case of "sticky" steering. Steering wheel doesn't return to center after a turn. Doesn't happen 100% of the time but often enough for me to notice within 20 miles that I've driven so far. Bad ball joint? I've just replaced all of them :(

Check to make sure your rack bushings aren't worn out or slipping around.
Ask me how I know this?
Anyway, easy enough to check. Sometimes power steering fluid can leak on them and the rack will stay off-centered like you're describing.

I'm aiming at 300whp with a turbo closer to the end of this year. Just waiting for AR5 transmission swap to become available. Also, I have tons of torque compared to a supercharged BP. Car feels much better than it did with a Rotrex.
I'll check them out! Was planning on replacing those bushings as well but I totally forgot.
My Z32 did similar things years ago. Traced it down to a leaking power steering line that was dripping fluids on the bushings.
Like everything else on that car, it was a real treat to snake the replacement lines in/out of the engine compartment.
Nugget is no more. A drunk driver turned left in front of me while I was traveling straight on a green light. My car caught on fire after impact (haven't investigated why just yet) but thankfully I had a fire extinguisher. The floor is crumbled and the car is toast.
