Replaced the brake fluid with fresh ate typ200, also used it for the clutch.
Turbosmart wastegate installed.
Fuking thing cost me almost as much as the turbo

Could be a first with a 16x8 Storm S1's on the na/nb platform? Either way I'm in love.

A few fancy shots from a miata club trip.
Car performed flawlessly for the 200 mile round trip averaging 24 mpg incl lots of pulls.
I am getting an itch to revisit my ignition map as I am kind of fed up with how the engine is restricted. I know I was a noob with my tuning back in my dyno session so could revisit with a perfect ve map.

Yesterday's track day was an eye opener to me.
There were some serious cars and drivers this day,
I was placed on the 4th group out of 5. I got my *** kicked by a stock powered nc with Cusco coilovers and a rollbar. That thing was on rails.
I started to come terms with the fact my car is too soft for the track.
Which is why I went ahead and ordered a RB 1.125 and starting to save up for xidas!

(2nd to the right)

Suspension overhaul is due.
Basically a Xida race 700/400 big grip kit, es bushings, ELBJ, new camber bolts, the whole deal.
Shoutout to SPM guys, their support so far is great.

Xida's are in!
Feels like a whole new car with new bushings and new motor mounts.
700/400 isn't really that bad stiffness wise. I'm still experimenting with the settings I like. But overall even 10 clicks from stiff the ride is firm and controllable.
Alignment set at -2.8mm at the front, -2.5 at the back. Felt like -3 is too aggressive for me at the moment.

First time in a long time I am really enjoying my car at the track and the first time in 7 years the car is doing what I'm asking of it, all thanks to the magic xidas!
Started the first session with full stiff rear and 2 clicks from stiff at the front. Car was angry at the bumps.
Next session, two clicks from stiff @ rear, 4 clicks from stiff @ front, and that was money. Stayed on those settings the rest of the day.

Me driving from 2:00.. Was later at the day, when my tires were past their usable window. You can see by my second lap I was washed off the turn.
Had a 00:44 potential in it if not for the white boat, which is close or would be a miata record in this track.
I was driving all sorts of boats, I love how easy these are to drive hard. Was really impressed by one with a KW V3, still had some unwanted roll at the edge though.

That's a pretty dry part of the world.

New track for me, 80% full throttle, long straights. Overheated after 4 laps, intake temps skyrocketed to 160ish so time to step up my cooling game.
Ordered the Vibrant 12800 and Derale 13614 to serve as an oil cooler, as per @Bronson M setup (Seems like Sav is no longer selling an oil cooler kit).
Will also need to fully duct so updates to come.

That's how it went most of day.

I *think* I got my cooling problems finally solved. Never went over 204 water temps and 107 iat's.
Time for some slickier tires, G-Loc pads and a harddog DD.

Recent diff oil change had big chunks of clutch leftovers. Had loud knocking sounds at speed right after the oil change as if the tabs shifted to another part of the diff. So fuji had to go.
Got a very good deal on a US 3.9 torsen (Preferred this ratio over the 3.6's I am selling as a sponsor). If anyone got a 3.9 speedo gear laying around please let me know.
Current looks of the car after replica MSM lips -

Haven't posted in a while so figured why not.

In two days it would be 4 years since I started this build thread (and 1 year wedding anniversary). Time does fly.

This happened after I missed a braking point and tried not to crash into a NC. Ended nose up into a tire barrier.
Could have been way worse. Needed a bumper, fixed the fender and door, and got a new spm crossflow and ac condenser.

Honeymoon was planned around so that we would be at Monterey come Miata Reunion. So we started at NYC, flew to Vegas then LA and up north.
I used my Israeli hutzpah to get into a brand new 30ae with a nice guy who let me in. Was an experience I'd never forget.

Back to my car - She's been rewarding me with flawless reliability ever since day 1.

My sr20 turbo started smoking badly the past year or so. I was looking around facebook and found a Protege turbo unit for a steal (more on that in my dyno thread).

Started noticing the slightest of misfiring during dyno time so I got in touch with Hawley and they set me up with their vvt LS kit

Next would need to install the MR2 rear hub kit by Bro-Fab. That's it for now. Keep safe.

Well, this was bound to happen one day.
Was able to source an engine quite quickly with the help of my uk partner.
Doing a rods-only, maxspeeding basic build.

New engine is in, basic ebay rods, arp head studs, re-ringed vvt pistons and a fluidampr.
Going to be shooting for 17 psi on my 2554r.

Need to sort out a new mac solenoid, since current one was failing and caused the overboosts which killed my engine.
It's always the $20 part that makes you pay, isn't it..

Almost six months later still not in a fully drivable mode.
Went through 3-4 mac valves (bad units or thin wire gauges), having experienced boost cuts. Then I went through 2 sets of D585 coils and 2 known good vvt coil sets, and fresh plugs.
I just now got to a conclusion after experiencing heavy cutouts during stop&go traffic, that it might be something in the fuel system. Wasn't in the logs up until recently that afr's went lean through the roof.
It all started gradually over months with little cutoffs in boost but I now suspect my fuel pump went bad. DW200 on the way.
Also went through two power steering pumps, now the second one squeaks.

Sigh, I guess this car didn't like sitting for half a year.

Car ia finally fixed, I THINK.
Swapped out the cam position sensor and now I can abuse it. Standard Motor PC360 from rockauto did the trick and at a fair price.

Haven't updated in a long time.
My intermittent sync loss issue under boost finally made the car not start and I was able to diagnose.
Turns out a loose wire near where the ecu is located was touching and shorted some of the fuses.

I'm 10 years and then some into this car and I finally start to think about moving on.
Another turbo failure means I'm finally getting a brand new turbo, this time a gt2560r.
Thinking about slapping it on with wastegate pressure and selling as is.
I think what started this realization of going too far and asking a 30 year old chassis to excel in a dual duty situation, and turning out to be impossible, is installing the Xida race coilovers.
This is in no way a hit on Supermiata, as I think this set is the absolute best in the miata game when it comes to the track, but for 99% of street use it made me hate the car slowly over time.
Having driven and rode in dozens of NCs with various shock setups, while "versatuning" them, made me realize how this chassis and suspension is so much better than the best setup an NB can get.
So its now for sale locally and my next step is either an NC2 (for the better internals and nicer front bumper), or a BRZ, or even pulling away for a while, while I save for a house.
We'll see.
