Yeah when i orginally was going to stick my 68mm on a built bp with similar parts everyone said the trans/rear end would explode and never last lol. But it seems to be holding up alright so far here.

+1 for slicks...a manual transmission in your situation at the track NEEDS slicks ..if it was an auto youd have alot better of a chance of getting radial to do work.

LOL. No issues with bending the trunk under heavy braking?

Cats for you as soon as I get to a computer.

Two middle tires are tight against the front and rear lips of the trunk opening, there isn't much pressure on the trunk lid itself. Outside tires are mostly snug against inside tires.

Two tow straps.

#1 is hooked to trunk arm, then routed through wheel spoke, then center wheel hole, then center wheel hole then wheel spoke then attached to other trunk lid arm.

#2 is just through spokes of outer tires and then attached to itself and ratcheted tight. This puts their force on the inside wheels.

I did this probably a few dozen times an hour and fifteen minutes each way to autocrosses. Trunk still closes perfectly. Wheels never moved at speed.

Trunk rack like this holds tires nicely. I have done 3x 205's on there.

Although with only two tires, you can just run a strap under the trunk lid, put down a towel and then lay them on the trunk and strap through the rims.

to me that indicates massive shock/stress, more so than what my car is doing

Now, yours is way faster/more powerful, so it's not exactly apples vs apples, but I still think dropping/spiking is just as, if not more harmful as loading up into the next gear.

but we shall see which way works I suppose
Until you posted the logs, I thought we were re-discussing Flat Shift vs not Flat shift. Even if you look at the two graphs you posted, one bring boost back before RPM starts rising, the other brings back boost sooner. That, I think, shows the virtue of where the clutch and switch are adjusted.

Regarding keeping power, or not keeping power, in ANY case of flat shifting, one is dumping power by the rev limiter. If the engine is holding 5500RPM under no load, then it is making NO appreciable power. Keeping the turbo spooled, and the MAP up allows the power to come back quickly when spark and fuel are turned back on, but they are not making power while the engine is decelerating.

Here's a vid from friday night from a gentleman with a go-pro who asked to film my car. This was the first pass with this setup, and only 12 PSI boost as my rear wastegate was broke. So this is what my car does on 12 PSI with an EBAY gt28 only.

Hopefully he's there this friday.

It's 59 miles away, with Houston traffic on a Friday that's a long drive there, and an expensive tow truck back if I break it. And they are slammed compared to 1/8th mile, you get 3-4 passes there if you are there the entire time, vs 15-20 passes at the 1/8th mile track.

So I go to the 1/8th mile. And not running 1/4 until it's reliable in the 1/8th anyway.

AAA with 200 mile towing is less then $100 a year. Worth every penny.

That makes sense.

The nearest drag strip of any kind is 80 miles from my house. It's 1/4 mile, but it's also Sears Point, which means it's really busy.

There's one in Sacramento somewhere but that's even further.

Note that you can't just sign up directly for AAA platinum (I think that's the one with 200 miles). You have to be a regular member for a year before you can get AAA plus, and I think AAA platinum is only available after that.

Also, with mine at least, you only get one of the long tows per year (mine are 150mi).

Interesting points. I wonder if it depends on what area you are in and what AAA branch covers them. I have been a member for the past 13 years on my families account. I have been towed over 100 miles multiple times within a year, without question. But I have heard of friends getting talked to by AAA for being towed to much. At the end of the day a yearly AAA membership costs less then a single tow out of pocket, so I deem it as always a good value.

I disagree. I signed up for AAA Premier (200 mile tow) for me and my gf. Never had AAA before. Now as long as she is with me I have like 400 miles of towing lol.

Perhaps it varies then. AIUI, my plus membership is 3 100 mile tows, and the upgrade to premier (not platinum, I got the marketing name wrong earlier) turns one of them into a 200 mile tow.

I stick with Plus because that's enough to get the Miata home from pretty much anywhere I drive it. If it goes further than that, it goes there on the trailer.

I think you can get AAA premium as a new customer, they just charge you more for it. I think it was around $175.
