Not enough rain do to any sort of good job, unfortunately. I had so much mud in the rims that it threw the wheels out of balance the car felt like it was going to come apart at any speed over 55 mph. More than usual anyway. Also the brakes barely worked.
We made our way to a coin-op carwash so I could at least blast out the wheels... and I immediately locked my keys in the trunk.
A call to AAA yielded a completely useless roadside tech guy who had no ability to open a trunk, so we went with Plan B:
Quick trip to Harbor Freight resolved that problem
I don't necessarily agree with this sign... heh
It made for some very odd internal airflow dynamics, that's for sure
Over 70 mph it made some pretty nightmarish noises, but I made it home without further issue.
that looks like a ton of fun, but also a ton of work for just 3 timed runs haha
Still, thanks for the update, fun to see y'all out having a good time
Thanks man! 😊
That's always been my experience with autocross, so I figured it would be the same for rallycross, and I've not been dissuaded. That's the most expensive, per time at speed event, I've ever participated in. I also drove 6+ hours to do it.
The real fun is hanging out with people you enjoy spending time with, and I very much appreciate that @afm and @gesso came out with other friends and coworkers. Hanging with those folks is always the best part of such events

Though I did figured this one out:
It turns out that if you pack enough rocks into the little vent slot in the pads, they stop being effective. Who knew!
So of course I did a full teardown and cleanup of the brake system. I scraped the **** out of the pads, cleaned the rocks and mud out the calipers, lubed all the sliders...
