Hahah. Wouldn't that be nice... someday!

Honestly, given how exhausted I've been the last few days and what time I've been working on the car... I'm just glad that I didn't decide that the fuel line looked close enough to the vac line I was supposed to use!

I just need to get the idle tables right and figure out why the revs shoot up like a bat outta help any time I give the car any gas at all. Technically, I did drive the car today. I decide to put it into gear and let the clutch out slowly to get me back into the driveway. Does that count? It moved a foot of its own accord!

I drove the car today. It felt totally bizarre being on the road in it instead of staring at it wistfully as a garage ornament.

Since the car has been on jack stands, I have installed: NB2 seats, front and rear sway bars, adjustable endlinks, and a roll bar. The steering feel is TOTALLY different. Feels like a completely different car.

Congrats!

Thanks man! Got it working well enough last night that I'm planning on driving it around this week instead of the daily!

Still gotta put in the intercooler I got from you. Looking forward to living the interfooler life for a bit after that haha.

I did better! I have logs posted on the MS forum haha.

I'll take some pics soon. Car needs a wash.

Behold the wrath of naturally aspirated NB1 powahhhhhhhh!!!
On MS3X with a basemap tune that VEAL is sorting out, GM IAT, and a racing beat exhaust manifold. A friend has a DIY intake I might grab off him since he's starting to put together his turbo setup. Should be interesting to test it out.

I stopped when the dash indicated 7k. Guessing I may have hit 120 if I had gone to redline since I ate about 500 rpm. Should be fun to see what the 'cold air' intake is worth if anything.

So much sadness. I hope that was run up a 20% grade.

Lexzar 04-20-2017 12:16 AM

Flat..and three runs to verify. Maybe my NA weighs closer to 2600lb with me in it lol

And my tune sucks.

Sounds like VD is overestimating for you!

:fawk:

I want to try some track days N/A before I go down the road of adding power but my tune sucks ass. After watching how fast ~220whp can be, I need to learn to drive lol

ridethecliche 04-20-2017 04:05 AM

You're on MS3 right? Which one?

Here's my current tuning saga!

Re: NA power. I want to do atleast one autocross before doing turbo ish! I think it'd be fun. Car handles so differently with the sway bars that I want to push it a bit. The local roads that were fun at the speed limit earlier just feel like straight lines now lol.

I vote going and driving the car N/A, it'd be tons of fun and give seat time.

Absolutely. Driving fast is 80% skill, 15% grip, and 5% power. Ideally, your mods will follow that pattern. Start with the driver mod, and you will be able to do something with all that power, once you add it.

I beat a 500HP supercharged Mustang last Saturday with my 105HP, by embarrassing him in the corners, for example.

That doesn't count... It was a mustang. It was just trying to go towards the crowds!

You have an NB2, shouldn't you be around the 110-115 mark?

You are correcting my HP estimate UP?! Am I sure this is the Internet? Where is the hidden camera?

Haha, I mean I think I'm hitting 120 and the only mod I have is a racing beat header. I've seen stock nbs dynoed in the 105-115 range afaik. Most end up between 105-110.

Do I honestly have to get under the car to adjust the alternator belt? Damn you miataaaaa!

Figured I'd try to tighten it to see if it eliminated the squealing at startup and the idle battery light turning on. Guessing it's slipping or getting otherwise annoyed at me like cars like to do.

You shouldn't need to get under the car. There is the lower 14mm bolt at the bottom of the alternator that needs to be loosened and tightened, but I am almost positive you can get it from above.
