More great advice here. You will definitely need a second mode of transportation while you install your parts. This goes for every part of the instal. MS, you will probably need a few days to get it drivable. Weeks for the turbo install.

I'd seriously love to have a meetup sometime. Put a face to the username and car.

My first motor swap/turbo install took me two weeks just to figure out why I couldn't get sequential ignition to work. That's not even breaking the motor in and tuning.

Worst of all was pulling the motor 4 times to redo the oil pump, only to find out a galley plug of all things was leaking. Towed it to a shop and spent hundreds to figure that mess out. You WILL suffer with this project. Everyone does, just in different ways. Unless you are a careful builder like Downmented who has 10 other cars to use while he painstakingly makes his Miata the best on the internet.

Sounds great. My car is back on the road with the new seat. Also planning on getting in on the VIR track day on the 18th. Maiden track day for this moneypit. Have to check for conflicting dates though. Working on an AMA hair scramble championship.

I have been studying these forums for months on months. And I have read your thread. From my little experience I have seen many 1.8 turbos without ms and pretty much all 1.6s run it. So dont think im trying to say their is a "difference". I know the ignition is weak and the timing loves to jump just retiming mine to 12 degrees last night to kill that idle drip I was having. Previous running 8 Degrees and super rich. And if you want to match a face just see my facebook page . But im down for a meet at anytime and will be uploading pictures of my turd bucket asap. Thank you Boosted Redneck

Come down to MATG this weekend. I got a floor you can crash on. Will give you mt decals and oral sex.

To the OP. You need to research a ton more. Expect to spend $3000-$4000 to build a reliable DD turbo miata. There are costs you can't get around unless you have a ton of knowledge and fabrication skills. You lack both of those things. I may be up in the Roanoke area in October, might possibly bring a turbo car.

Well there is your problem. You have e been reading on forums other than Miata Turbo. Stray from this site if you want shittyshitty advice. I wont keep repeating myself. I gave you a simple map to success. Use it, don't argue with us about it. You will not convince us that you are going to build a reliable car without MS.

Braineack the admin here builds MS3x's for around $800. There is a wait list though. Well worth it.

Be sure to get the bells and whistles you never though you would need. Knock, sequential, etc. You don't have to use them, but it's sure handy that it's already there.
