Yo dude, great job closing out the MTTC season! Bummed I didn't get to hang with you guys longer at SOW or Button. Looked like y'all were having a blast.
Car's gonna rip for sure with e85 and the new manifold. Just make sure to keep that unobtanium bumper out of the dirt! Shouldn't be too hard as I expect you'll be mopping up Mod class with that new aero and more power next year
Got the ChathamCNC manifold, ID1050X, and FlexFuel sensor wired and plumbed in.
Toby at Advanced Engine Dynamix remoted in to set the fuel table well enough for the new injectors and create a first-draft flex fuel table as well. He also double checked my ignition settings for the DIYAutotune IG1-NA coils and made a couple corrections.
Decided to just use 2 of the ORB>3/8" barb vacuum ports on the manifold. One goes straight to the PCV and the other goes to a full-race distribution block which I mounded under the flexfuel sensor. That feeds the brake booster, FPR, BOV, and MAP sensor.
Honestly I'm stoked on the packaging efficiency I managed to get out of this little shelf I whipped up lol:
On Saturday I'm going back to AED for a dyno session so we'll learn what this new setup will do:
First will be CA-91 with the new injectors and manifold. Added benefit here is a good A/B test on what gains the manifold gets by itself on 91 compared to my original tune here from 2 years ago.
Next we'll throw in 10 gallons of E85 corn juice and see how it does. Like I said before my goal is 200lb/ft which will be a gain of 15 at the wheels compared to CA91 and stock NA8 manifold. I will be very happy if that gets me to around 250whp (+30whp).
Dude, the finished product came out looking super clean. Stoked to hear the results after this weekend. The 789 car is gonna have to up its game next year! Lol

Haha thanks man. Considering the turbo car weighs almost 300lbs less than this one I'd be very happy if I can keep up with it.
Forgot to post the obligatory "new wheels" picture after rolling the fenders as much as my stupid second-hand roller could manage. We took a hacksaw to it to make it shorter and get a bit more range out of it. If I come back in from a session and my tires are beveled I'll know there's more to be done lol.
The aforementioned 15x9.5 Konigs with ~70% remaining 245 RT-660. Picked up this set used for a really good deal so I ended up +$600 after selling my 8" 6ULs and RPF-1s.
Right now it's looking like I'll replace these with 245 RC-1 for MTTC next year, unless people without Vitour stickers on their car confirm that the P1 is really THAT great.
Pretty much exactly where I wanted it to land. Interestingly the chatham cnc manifold didn't make a difference on 91, likely due to me not spinning past 7000rpm, since the runner length is pretty short. I won't chase higher power beyond 7000 though, not worth the increased wear on the stock engine to me.
I agree, sweet numbers. Rotrex at this power level is perfect for a track car. Easy on the drivetrain, linear, low heat, reliable. On e85 especially. Psyched to see where you go with the aero on this rig
Overdue update time! I'll get some more pictures of the DIY bits soon. Currently bored on a flight so I figured now is a good time to post something.
DIYing the front end proved to be even trickier than I assumed; that's what took the majority of the time since last October when I first started this round of upgrades.
The TDR rotrex mounts to some of the OEM bumper/undertray/fender bracing points so it had to be re-figured-out along with the new DIY engine oil cooler.
For now the rotrex cooler has no ducting but seems to be getting plenty of airflow based on the sub-100F fluid temps I've seen during the last 2 track days (cold weather though so may need improvement soon).
The new setrab 16 row oil cooler is fed by the passenger side inlet in the bumper and has thin sheet aluminum ducting that I whipped up and also seems to be working well. Couldn't get oil above 200 the last 2 track days but again it was like 55 degrees max outside so we'll see how it does in warmer weather.
Unfortunately my supermiata 1.6 sport clutch apparently has a torque capacity somewhere between what my car makes on CA91 (~180ish at the wheels) and what it makes on E85 (195). It started slipping soon after I finally got the car back on the ground and aligned, which was a couple days before my "shakedown" track day at Buttonwillow. I'm very glad I went through the effort of flex fuel because I just filled the tank with 91 and the clutch held that output just fine. I ordered the supermiata 1.6 ceramic clutch which I'll hopefully be putting in soon.
Ended up selling the 9.5" konigs with 245/40 tires back to the guy I bought them from. I couldn't get them to not rub on my fenders despite my best efforts with the roller and heat gun. Picked up a set of used 9" konig dekagrams with 3 year old v730s to test/play with in the meantime. I don't like black wheels, and I feel like they look awful on my dark blue miata, but hey I needed something quick so oh well. Also got a new set of 225 RC-1s that I'll use for MTTC (sweet discount for competitors too).
Made it to round 2 of MTTC and got 3rd out of 4 modified-class competitors! Haha. Old V730s weren't great at streets of willow but it was awesome to be back out driving with the series again. Next weekend is round 3 at Chuckwalla so I'm stoked on that. More updates to follow.
Sheesh, that is one GREAT looking Miata. Love it. The GHO looks so sick on the car dude!! Also the singular wing is straight baller.
Thanks for the report about the 245 on 9.5s, I was considering that route but was skeptical. My buddy is running 245s on 10s on his NA and had to do some gruesome things to his fenders to fit them. I know function should come before form, but I love the stock NA fenders and plan to stick with them. I was able to fit 245 660s on 9s but I'm honestly not sure if they were any faster so I'll likely go back to 225s this season anyways.
Sucks about the clutch, at least that job is pretty easy on a Miata. Keep us posted, I love your updates!
