Please think carefully about the cage. It's really not a good idea to be driving a caged car without a helmet and a 5/6-point harness.

On the street, for the 500 mile trips between tracks? OneLap doesn't allow tow vehicles, right?

on the street - no. stock belts are being retained with the mentioned dual density padding. and i'll have more clearance between my head and the main hoop than a bolt-in roll bar.

I've been updating my Facebook page more than here, but:

-seats are in and mounted
-car in in ohio getting its cage welded up... i'm super excited about it - the guy really knows what he's doing.
-helmet, necksgen, and harnesses are here - just waiting to get the car back for the install

gridlife #5 is back at gingerman and i'm planning on entering. just need to get the safety stuff installed, inspect and bleed the brakes with new fluid, flush the coolant and fill with 100% water.

oloa announced their dates for next year, and its on the calendar!
being realistic i'm not going to be able to afford the suspension or wheels, but i'll be as prepped as i can.

It's been a while... and I've done some upgrading since the last time.

Got my fancy headwear in

Then I took the car over to Ohio to have Mark the rollcageguy put in an amazing cage. He did a fantastic job - I can't give him enough praise.

Knowing I was heading to the track soon, I got my boat-bilge-blower-defroster up and running (picture will be coming later), brake fluid flushed with ATE Type 200, and some basic Stoptech Sports for the weekend.

This past weekend I went to Gingerman for Gridlife's round 5 and get on track myself - it was fantastic. They're running a great organization, and my instructor, Jan, was a great teacher and moved me up a class the second day.

I was on stock suspension and engine, and the V2 all seasons and I got a few point by's which was awesome. With some work I managed to find another gear in a few sections.

I found my co-driver for the OLOA, and have a plan:
-brakes will be upgraded to G-Loc R8's front and rear w/ some napa blanks
-Type 200 fluid will be used and I'll get some ss brake lines
-tires will be the continental extremecontact sport as my weapon of choice
-I'll need to get some input on the best alignment numbers to go with since I'll be on stock suspension, running a lot of highway miles, and driving on track... any input is much appreciated.
-I won't be able to afford suspension before the OLOA starts, but I think it's going to serve me well to upgrade a bit at a time and learn to drive the car as it gets better.
-I'm going to try and make it to Mid-Ohio for Gridlife's first round next year, and then get an open track day or two at Gingerman to work the car and setup before the start of the OLOA

That's all i know for now!

looking into alignment numbers and I could really use some input...

-driving 3500-ish highway miles with two track events per day
-stock suspension (can't afford to swap before the oloa)
-stock vvt engine
-g-loc r8 pads
-continental extremecontact sport (205/45-16)

i've seen FM's numbers, and i'm not sure 949's number can apply to my situation...

any help and insight is appreciated!

My recommendation:

-as much camber as you can get in the front
-once you achieve that, as much caster as possible without losing camber
-half a degree less camber in the rear than you got in the front.
-0 front toe
-1/8" total rear toe, I believe toe in, whatever 949s settings say there.

It's been a while since I've updated, but the car seems to be sorted, and we're all set to go. We shook the car down with its new brakes, tires, alignment, and other assorted goodies at Gingerman, then Mid-Ohio (in the wet - which was hilariously good fun).

We leave this Friday morning to head down to the Tire Rack, get tech'd, and slap some stickers on the thing...

If any of you are around these tracks - come on out and say hi!!

5/5 am - Tire Rack Headquarters, South Bend, IN
5/5 pm - Autobahn, Joliet, IL
5/6 - Gateway, Madison, IL
5/7 - Hallett, just west of Tulsa, OK
5/8 - High Plains, east of Denver, CO
5/9 - MSR Cresson, just sw of Ft. Worth, TX
5/10 - NOLA, New Orleans, LA
5/11 - NCM, Bowling Green, KY
5/12 - Tire Rack Headquarters, South Bend, IN

Hallett is almost exactly an hour west of Tulsa, best place to get a hotel is in Sand Spring which puts you closer to 40 minutes away. Have fun!

A huge part of our racing program for these two years has been to benefit the American Brain Tumor Association.

My father, Bill Robertson, is the one who instilled a love of cars and racing in me. He was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in 2012, and died later in 2014. To honor his influence, we raised $3245 for the ABTA last year, and have a goal of raising $5000 this year.

For each $10 minimum donation, we send a #slowmiata sticker to you as a way of thanking your for your contribution.

And for each $25 minimum donation, we'll send a #slowmiata t-shirt to you to thank you for helping us benefit the ABTA in their research, care, and support.

The link takes you directly to their webpage, so you can make a donation directly to them. I'll reach out as soon as the donation goes through to thank you, and send our gift to you.

Thanks for considering!

The Tire Rack One Lap of America is a grueling, endurance event that is unlike anything else that is put on.

Starting on South Bend, Indiana, the eight day event saw us cover 4049 miles, 18 competitive events, 192 gallons of gas, and 11 cars that didn't make it to the end. We saw much cooler temperatures than last year, and had several wet tracks.

After all the tire smoke cleared (literally, check out the pictures), we placed 5th in our class full of BMW's, S2000's, and GTI's, and placed 42nd out of the 78 cars that started. If that doesn't sound impressive consider that we had 110hp, and the smallest tires of the event and managed to place better than: 2 Vipers, 7 BMW's, 5 Corvettes, and a 790hp Challenger among others!

We learned a ton, Becky made tire changes for the better, got to see some of our best friends, and drove at tracks we would never have been able to otherwise.
