Yeah, but I'm not sure how much pressure I want to allow it to make at this point.
I spent today creating additional heat shielding out of aluminum plate. I did some yesterday as well. After a 30 minute drive, I'm very happy with the differences in heat between the hot and cold sides of the shielding. It is dramatic. When the intermittent showers stop, I'll get the pics.

V bands don't seem to fail when you take them on and off like turbine studs do, or did you hear the opposite at some point? I have another V band at the bottom of the downpipe, too. Maybe I'm just living life like a maniac.

Getting rid of that kink at the top of the dp will most likely yield you better heat results than those heat shields. Who's that dude that flipped his manifold to make a bottom mount and avoid that kink? Look up his build thread, you see what I mean.

The pigment in that paint is 96% or so zinc as it is specifically for a "cold galvanizing" finish treatment. I'm thinking of doing the turbine housing and downpipe in it to prevent unsightly rust and other oxidation.
How are things with you? The lil' trucky doin' ok?

The machines shop is being useless about my VW head, he's had it over 2 months and can't seem to figure out how to cut the valve guides to set the seal depth.
I'm hung up on projects waiting on him. The paint, the engine, all that is waiting on my cylinder head. I was DEFINITELY going to take the VW to the mitty this year, but this set back has gone so ridiculously over the time budget, I'm wondering if that'll happen.
I get all my parts really high temp ceramic coated for the reasons you mentioned. I'm doing great. Helicopter training is REALLY cool, way better than primary. My grades are kicking serious *** as well. I think I found my groove.
The truck is awesome. Changed the oil, it hasn't used a drop. Not a peep out of the thing. I'm going to reward it with a timing belt change soon, but I want to get that damn VW on the road incase things go bat country like they always seem to. It's only got 123,000 atm. Machine shop promised me tomorrow...

I don't live my life one Facebook notification at a time either. I checked it 0 times in the last 30 days. Private life is private. Everyone I know doesn't need to know everything I do. I'm not doing anything wrong, but I'm also not doing it for them.

Successfully campaigned the Slow Torture™ turbo Miata at Sebring International Raceway all weekend long without mechanical failure.
On track videos were taken, cars were passed, turbos sang, exhausts bellowed, tires squealed... innocent dirt got plowed...
Videos will be uploaded to youtube as soon as I'm able. And yes, I passed the Ferrari 599 but it was anticlimactic because he was an ancient old dude who didn't know how to drive.

Yay, videos!
This was the second session on Saturday morning. I had just swapped wheels between sessions and these skinny 5yr old 14" RS2s on stock wheels were overinflated and got very slick as they heated up. I was very inconsistent and was relearning the track since it had been 6 months since I was there last. And I also needed to settle my nerves. The car was so much different with the turbo and the suspension changes that there was a big learning curve on where to brake as well. I did much better in subsequent sessions.
I almost lost it overcooking the braking zone out of the back stretch into 17. The car had a lot more speed than it ever did before but the same amount of brakes and tires. I went two wheels off in turn 3 overcooking it just after that on those slippery tires. I had to go explain myself to "the man" after that.

Director's note - Camera was moved around to try different angles throughout the weekend. This one is inside the mouth of the bumper.
