It comes from the air. I'm no scientist, so you'll need to do your own research/make own conclusions, but the stuff just doesn't like to sit in cold weather.
It also doesn't like cold starts very much, as I'm sure you've noticed. Probably for the same reason

If the tank is full, then theoretically there should be little to no air.
If the tank is empty there is no E to absorb / collect moisture. Thus not getting moisture in the fuel.

I'll probably drain it empty and just leave it. Then come spring i'll just put some fresh in. I'll just learn from my problems, if I have any.

draining empty is probably safest

Draining empty and then putting in enough 93 to run it and leave in the fuel rail and injectors is what I'd do. Just to ensure you have no ethanol to aluminum issues.

Ran the car a good 400 miles today.
Was in a pack with some real boneheads though, which was unfortunate.
Car did awesome though and I'm thankful for that.

Got the Miata out today (thanks El Nino) on the winter storage tires.

So here i give you some "off season" visual and audio stimulation.

Finally got through this, been a lurker but I had to register and post on this.

This build is awesome, I'm also in the Detroit area and would love to meet up and check out your car! I'm hoping to pick up my first Miata in a month or 2 with plans of doing a turbo build next winter/spring. I like that you're running e85 now, as I plan on doing it myself. I know its cold and crappy now, but I'm curious as to what your fuel economy is like running e85. From what I understand its 30%-40% less. (yes I know, gtfo with this fuel economy talk)

Anyways, awesome build, if I see you out at any meets or anything I'll be sure to introduce myself.

Thanks!
This thread starts a little late into the "build" but it does give some good details on what i went through with the turbo.
I wish i would have done e85 earlier as most the people on this site suggest. It really is a miracle fuel especially for my weird compression ratio.
I can't even guess what kind of MPGs i'm getting, but it's not good. I know with the way i drive i'll burn through half a tank of gas in about an hour.

I'll be out and about this summer, either on the bike or in the car. Usually around Telegraph in Taylor, or up on Woodward.

No new updates. No care.
She's finally back on the road. A cold morning and a worn down small tire makes this car look quick.
So the old tires that are on this car i use on my daily miata, they're pretty worn down Z1's. I put them back on this car in the winter for storage while the daily has the snow tires on it. So this video was taken before i swapped over the 225 R1R's.

Also, i forgot that i love smelling e85 in the morning.

Still need to work out my idle bug, not shown in video.

Not much new with the car. This is the first update in a while. I've just been driving it hard a few times a week. I love it. It gets pulled on by hellcats but that's okay because I know I'm having more fun.

Just installed my sensor. Time to do a little reading and see how to hook it to the ms3 basic.

I also did this the other day. I debated posting this elsewhere, but i'll stick to just keeping it in here. If i'm going to get negprops for recording in eggplant mode, it may as well be in my own build thread.
Please note that this was done strictly in the name of science and under the supervision of a trained professional, alcoholic, right wing, kitty loving, miata enthusiast.

Is this the fairly well known "dead spot" in the middle of the temp gauge, or something else? My understanding is that the factory gauge is set up this way so your sister does not take the car back to the dealer every time the thermostat cycles. Google around re: miata temp gauge linearlization mod (not sure that is a word lol)

...though yours does look excessive.

This has always been "well known" to me. I'm unsure of others. Especially the noobs who come here and tell us how their half size honda radiator with no reroute never overheats at MRLS on endurance races.

Is there a way to scale fuel tables negatively? When i try to use the dash-number say -1.2 the table fills with zeros.
I'm trying to tune for this flex fuel sensor but i lost my original gasoline fuel table. When i switched to e85 i just increased the fuel table by a certain % (i think 18 and tuned from there). Now i need to go back so when i enable flex fuel it doesn't shoot rich.

I tried .8 originally and had the same problem. But now i just tried 0.8 and it seems like it worked...
I've inhaled to many fumes.

well I've got a wiring mess to clean up but it's working.

%is low because I dumped a little 93 in to check the sensor. Shook the car a little and it settled out right there.

Have you tuned the fuel and spark? Because your current setup has fuel and spark multipliers setup, not table blending.
