$180? Man, I wouldn't spend $180 to get my car out of impound.

The trick is the non-e85 pump is 9/10ths (better, really, in some ways) as the e85 version and best estimates say it'll only shorten life by <10% (i.e. 200,000 miles MTBF or something ridiculous). Of course, a pump in the tank is worth two in the bush.

One of the nicest parts is that it's quiet! I mean, it's way way way louder than the stock pump, but it sounds like you parked 500 feet from niagra falls, not 100 feet. :-)
Huh. You know, I wonder how well that's all holding up. I don't have a good feeling (I took no "before" pictures) for how deep the sock went, but I thought it was fairly comparable.
I wish I'd put some rubber between pump and bracket, I bet it would have all been more quiet if I'd done so.

Guess it depends on the particular StooGAY. I can hear it over my motor at idle without any difficulty, "low" volume on the stereo is now higher than it used to be. It's great if you want a street car, but if I were that worried, I'd put an LED across the power pins of the pump. :-) You could hear it with quite a bit of noise if you stuck head near the tank cover. In a quiet environment I can hear it from ten feet from the car (just barely) with OEM sound deadening in place.

With Walbro pumps I'm worried about fakes. Cheapest I found a legit one is $150ish from Racetronix - Racetronix - F90000267 - Fuel Pump - 430L/Hr, E85 Turbine HP

I dono, from behind the car with the stock exhaust you could hear it from ~10 feet away idling. With the current ~86db@75' exhaust you cant hear it with the car running. You cant hear it from the drivers seat with the car running, unless the car is stopped close to something sound reflective. And its not loud enough to hear if its working with the car off if you're on the side of the highway and sitting in the drivers seat.

[QUOTE=soviet;1031208]I'd rather have the E85 version
[\quote]
Lame. No reason. Much more green, much less performance. If I got 5 years out of it and had to buy another, there'll be something better out then anyway. Odds are, you'll get more than that. The digging I'd done at the time told me in reality, nearly no one has problems with e85, and there's precious little wrong with the regular kit.
Totally reasonable. No idea what I got, or how to tell. So far, car runs. I'd rather spend extra money getting a genuine gas version over a possibly fake e85 one though.

I agree that paying a premium for E85 compatibility is silly. However, in this case, the E85 version also flows more.
Walbro 400 E85 - Part #F90000267, actual flow @ 13.5V - 454 lph @ 0psi, 328 lph @ 80psi
Walbro 400 Vanilla - Part #F90000262, actual flow @ 14.0V - 424 lph @ 0psi, 287lph @ 80psi
E85 version also draws more current and is only about $10 more than the vanilla version.
sauce:
Racetronix - F90000267 - Fuel Pump - 430L/Hr, E85 Turbine HP
Racetronix - F90000262 - Fuel Pump - 386L/Hr, Turbine HP

Well, I remember back in the day, reading a very in depth article (which I can't find after WAY too much time searching) that said that the pumps were odd in that they behaved differently for gas and e85 between them - i.e. the e85 pump was better at pumping gas but the gas pump was better at pumping e85 or some silliness.
The big issue is when I got them, the price difference was nearly a factor of two... For very little gain.
With $10 between them, why NOT get the bigger one?

With the big pump I could max out my FPR AND fuel pressure sender - 70psi base pressure, 30psi boost, 100psi fuel pressure ;D
That's almost 5 bar of base pressure
edit: ok maybe not 100psi of fuel pressure... it only provides 200lph at that pressure and I'd probably need more @ 30psi.

So... who wants to see Soviet pull an all night fuel system thrash, get his pressure issues fixed, and then bring his car to the drag race tomorrow?
sorry buddy, had to poke the frustrated Russian with a pointy stick

To follow up on the MSDroid stuff before - my USB OTG cable just showed up ($10, free ship) and... well, I didn't try talking to the MS as it's kinda halfway stuffed into my car, but on my Samsung Galaxy S3 I was able to get mouse and keyboard working just by plugging in the keyboard (and a mouse into it).
So no drivers, ROM flashing, root access or anything. Just a vanilla T-Mobile S3.

That's pretty awesome
Components for fuel pump wiring arrived (well, except 12ga splices) so I'll take out the pump and start rewiring tonight.
Pep Boys still haven't received the replacement Bosch battery - it's been over 10 days since they ordered it. FML.

yep, putting a new, generic 30A relay into the trunk. The stock one ("circuit opening relay") being under the steering wheel is in the worst possible location. Its also connected to the ECU, ST_IGN fuse and AFM connector at the same ******* time. **** that noise, I'll stick with a regular 4-pin $3 relay.
